Hi, we will be taking our new granddaughter to Disney and she is only 7 months old. We will be flying and then probably getting a car service to pick us up -- or maybe we will use Magical Express. We will be bringing our own stroller, but are not sure if should bring her carseat. Will the car service provide a car seat or do we need it on the airplane? Just starting to plan and am grateful for any suggestions.

We will be staying at the Beach Club Villas in a 1-BR, do they provide a crib or should be order one in the area. Also, can you let us know what else we will need to care for our little granddaughter.

Thanks so much for your help..

Steve

Congratulations on your new granddaughter! :cloud9:

DH and I brought our DS to WDW last May when he was five months old, so I'll do my best to answer your questions!

That depends... are you purchasing a separate seat for the baby on the plane? If so, then I'd definitely bring the carseat - you'll need it for the plane. If she'll be a lap child and you're planning on using DME (and are not planning on renting a car or taking a taxi offsite at any time), then you won't need the car seat. Car seats aren't allowed on DME buses, so you'll just hold the baby.

The BCV will provide a crib for the baby, but note that it will likely be a pack 'n' play type of crib (like a playpen) so if you'd rather have a "real" crib, then I'd suggest looking into renting from abbf.com or someone similar. When we brought DS, he was actually co-sleeping with us so a crib wasn't an issue. We're bringing him again this May and we're planning on using the pack 'n' play as his crib. He has one at home and we'll "practice" with it just to make sure he'll sleep in it okay before we leave.

Also, can you let us know what else we will need to care for our little granddaughter..

Ummm... let's see, what else. I'd suggest a stroller that reclines fully so she can nap in the stroller. And bring a sling or a Baby Bjorn-type carrier for waiting in lines for the rides (we brought both a sling and the Baby Bjorn - I used the sling A LOT). Use LOTS of sunscreen (babies skin are soooo sensitive) and a hat. Depending on how long you'll be there and how much space you'll have in your luggage - you might want to ship diapers, wipes, and other baby necessities to the resort before your arrival. We're planning on doing this for this coming trip, but we'll be there for two weeks so we'll have a lot of luggage. :scared1:

And, most importantly -- take LOTS of pictures and HAVE FUN!:thumbsup2

Steve, you may want to look into the Garden Grocer delivery service. It is wonderful. We will be going in 9 days with our 5 month old DS :cloud9: and are using this service.

I ordered water, formula, diapers, wipes, milk, purell, zip-lock bags (for dirt diapers),bibsters (disposable bibs), laundry soap and beverages. We placed our order and it will be delivered the day of our arrival. Saves headaches and having a suitcase just for the baby's needs. DH was happy about that!!:rotfl2:

We purchased an airplane seat for DS so we are taking our carseat and an umbrella stroller. We have been told a pack and play will be in the room. DISers have advised the cribs are in good shape but to bring your own sheet and blankets to help to infant feel at home.

Another tip I picked up on the board was disposable changing pads, great for planes changes, in the parks, or even the hotel room.

Hope this helps you.
