Hi all I'm travelling to Disney in October from the UK, is a repeat prescription that has been signed and stamped by my doctor enough to bring Tramadol through customs or do i need anything else. I'm just going to bring enough with me for the duration of my stay. Also is it okay to store them in the room safes.

You'll probably be OK, but its much better to have any controlled substances in their original, labelled container. If yours are dispensed in blister packs that have identifying info on the back of the pack, that should be sufficient. Absolutely keep this drug locked up in your resort safe.

Thank you minnie mum.
I do tend to keep my drugs in the official packaging with their leaflets in so I hopefully will be okay

Since the drug is legal in the US you won't have a problem with US customs but for medication it's always good to look up the country you're visiting to see if they have customs restrictions.
Tramadol doesn't look to be a control substance in the UK though :)

It became a controlled drug here a few months ago when they updated the lists

as stated you should be ok when traveling with the drugs in their original containers and with a letter from Doctor... I Have traveled all over the world as have never had a problem with my drugs as long as they are in their original containers.. have a great trip

This will be no problem and you don't need a physician's note. TSA won't even look at it.

It's not about TSA, particularly. The OP is coming in from the UK. Customs has their own regulations about bringing in prescription drugs.

Hi cec.

I have travelled to Florida from the UK with controlled drugs for a few years now. Make sure you keep the tablets in the original box, as you were going to. Take a copy of your most recent prescription, a scan or photocopy will do, in colour if possible. If you can get a letter from your GP's surgery, on headed paper, stating that you take the medication, and the dose, then all the better. I was told by the Home Office that the letter was needed by Customs for controlled drugs, but I've never been asked for mine. I just make sure I have an updated one every time I fly, just in case.

I hope you have a great trip.

I have flown several times internationally back and forth with several controlled prescription pain meds (I get kidney stones and need to be prepared in case one strikes overseas.) I always carry them in their prescription container, and have never, ever even had anyone even ask about them. It's probably a different story if you needed to bring in like 300 pills, but just enough for one person to use? I think you'll be fine.

Not once has customs, in any country, given any medications I have carried a second glance.

I'm happy that has been the case for you lost*in*cyberspace. The OP asked about travelling from the UK with a controlled drug. I answered her question based on what the UK Government tells citizens to do when travelling to the U.S. with a controlled drug. My medications get scrutinised every time I travel, as I have to carry a large backpack full every trip.

I also travel from the UK with pethidine and tramadol.
Last trip was June.
I always bring them in original packet with a copy of the repeat prescription.
Also wanted to add that you must have the medication in your hand luggage not in your hold luggage, even if it's a high/large amount.
I didn't do this a few yrs back and mine was stolen along with a load of ondansatron/zolaf which is an anti-sicknesss but very expensive to buy in the US I had to get it replaced at a local hospital and it was a long painful process.
I always keep my controlled meds in a lock box at home as I have children, and so I kept mine in the safe too due to my kids.
I've done the trip with these meds 9 times now from the UK. And I personally bring enough for a month, ( 3wk trip plus extra wk incase of delays)

It is a controlled drug, has been since 2014, and before that was on a very tight prescription.

hard to get a prescription doesn't mean you can't bring it into the country though. Controlled substances are usually monitored and require some kind of documentation. Japan was my last place of travel which is far more strict than any other country i've encountered before so every country it comletely different. It's best to do your own research and not rely on anyone's advice.

I never once said it was. If you read all the posts you will see that I bring it into the country every year from England! And gave advice based on that to the OP.
I only answered this based on what you said about it not being a controlled drug,
Which it actually is and has been since 2014!
