I plan on having an emergency van kit packed for our journey down. It will have replacement bulbs, fuses, fix a flat and wiper blades. We learned a hard lesson on our last trip. We were in Maryland, driving through wet snow (it was about 5 am to boot!) when, for no apparent reason, the wiper blade arm from the drivers side, flew off!!! We got off at the next exit (which was one of the rest areas) and DH went into the Exxon to buy a replacement. We paid $15.00 for ONE!!! We're not taking any chances next time!:bounce:

Add a flashlight to the list, and also a small tool kit and road flares. These came in handy for us the night our van had a blow out on the way to South Carolina. We were in a less than desirable section of town in Georgia. Really, we shoudl never have tried to travel on that tire, but we just forgot to check them before we left. Also, check your spare before you leave! During that experience, we had difficulty changing the tire because the lug nuts were stripped, keeping us from being able to remove the spare from under the van. Thanks to several good Samaritans who passed by, we finally got the job done. The road flare was invaluable during that experience.
