Hi Gang,

Myself and my daughter (aged 5 )are going to DLP on 8th October. She is quite excited. I can't wait :goodvibes

Hearing different things on this but do you have to book the Lion King show and what time is it at, if you are having lunch there do you book?

If having dinner at our own Hotel (Santa Fe) do we need to book this. We intend to eat there on our first night or should I go for something else, what I mean is if I eat in our own hotel am I missing out on what might be a better experience....

Do you need to book Good morning Fantasyland. Are there characters there or is this only at the character breakfasts/lunches/dinners?

Do the hotels give goody bags if you let them know that its someones birthday. Not sure where I heard or read this????

Anyone else staying at the same time as us....

If anyone has any hints, info etc please post here.

I have had a great read through the site and got some good pointers for our trip..:grouphug:

Hi,

The Lion King show - this has a few showings a day, in English and also French. You no longer need to get tickets for this - you just turn up at the theatre (Videopolis in Discoveryland) before the showtime, and join the queue to get in. For show times in which language, you can get this information from your hotel when you check in (they have various leaflets etc you can have giving this kind of information) or check the board near the hub in Main Street once you get into the Park. If you want to have lunch while watching the Lion King show, you don't need to book, as its a fast food place (the Hyperion) with seating just above and back from the Lion King stage.

Don't have dinner at the Santa Fe. The only reason I'm saying this is, for the same price as the dinner buffet at the Santa Fe, you could have a much better dining experience, with table service, better food, and better atmosphere, at various restaurants in the Village (Annettes, Rainforest Cafe for example). The Village is only a few minutes on the shuttle bus from the Santa Fe, or about 15 minutes walk away.

I think you should pre-book Good morning Fantasyland breakfast. You can book at check-in, but its subject to availabilty (ie first come, first served). I've booked my GMF breakfasts for our trip next week (just used the Disney booking phone number, and got it added to our booking). There are no characters at these breakfasts, but it does give you a jump on the queues in Fantasyland, and if you've got Extra Magic Hours as well, it means you can do some rides from 8am, then have breakfast in the Park, and be raring to go for rope-drop at 10am.

I don't know about the goody bags for birthdays etc, sorry.

Elaine

Hi Jeffers, welcome to DISboards, you've picked a great time to visit DLRP, the Halloween season is superb.

There is nothing official but if you contact the hotel directly they may be able to sort something, we've had balloons and a card in our room at the NPB. :)

please do not eat at the hotel santa fe! it really is bad value and the food is pretty much disgusting!

If you want to try a decent and not overpriced restaurant, I would say planet hollywood or rainforest cafe, especially for your DD who should really enjoy the theming! as these restaurants main courses are around 14-21euros.

Thanks for that info gang. I'm sure I'll have another few questions before we set off........:cool1:

I knew it........the minute I sent that last posting I came up with another question.. ..Re the evening meals, are there characters in the Restaurants at night or only at the character dinners and if so what time do they stay until...
Tnx

Hi,

In the Village (ie after the parks close) the only character dinner is at Cafe Mickey, and I believe the characters are there for most of the evening, until late on (certainly past your daughters bedtime :cutie: ).

I think the characters also appear at Inventions in Disneyland Hotel during evening meals - someone should be able to confirm this hopefully.

ditto i second that we ate there last year for dinner and where not impressed at all wont be repeating it again this year lol. Such a shame as breakfast was fine.

For the Lion King show you can pretty much see from everywhere in Videopolis and there are screens too. I wouldn't waste precious time queing for seats - I'd take the opportunity to grab my lunch there and just sit a bit further back and eat at the same time.

Hi

I am new to this forum! We are going on the 6th to the 10th and when I checked the disney website it says that the Lion King Show is not on from the 1st to 12th Oct!

My dd will be really disappointed if that is the case!

Like you I have loads of questions, I keep thinking of things I need to know!!!

Caroline

Really? I'd not spotted that - I'd seen that the Indiana Jones rollercoaster isnt running but hadnt seen anything else mentioned about closures!

Guess we'll find out when we get there on weds!
