Traveling with theme park NONenthusiast...

What can we do as a family that would be fun for the person who is not a theme park enthusiast? MY father-in-law doesn't like to ride anything that spins, goes fast or backwards. We've never been so any suggestions would be great!

You're actually headed to a pretty great park as it's not like other amusement/theme parks.

Don't ride Star Tours, it'll make ya dizzy.

Don't ride Dumbo, Teacups, Aladdin's Rug, Space Mt, or Astro at MK.

Don't ride Expedition Everest or Kali at AK.

Don't ride Test Track at Epcot.

Don't ride Rockin Roller Coaster or Tower of Terror at DHS.

Other than that, most rides are pretty mild. Many are simple boat rides. Most are visual, not crazy. Many people take babies on these rides.

There are so many cool things he'll enjoy even if he skips all the fast, spinning things!

I'm not sure of his personality type, but my mom was 68 when she went with us this last time. She took me many times as a child, so her favorites were still there.. like It's a Small World. Some folks think it's kind of hokey, but some folks just adore the hokiness. I'm one of those people.. so are most Disney fanatics. Make sure that you make him aware of all the details in the most simplest things. Men seem to appreciate those things... like in the architecture, even in the rides. If something looks dirty, it's supposed to look dirty. If it looks dusty, it's not because Disney is lazy... it's supposed to be that way, and they take much consideration into those things.

Rides like The Pirates of the Caribbean is fun for all. If you have kids, he'll enjoy watching the kids light up. Soarin' in Epcot will be a great thrill ride that isn't crazy, but gives a major excitement wow! He may enjoy Carousel of Progress, The President's Hall if he's a history buff.

There really is something for everyone. There are more rides/attractions for everyone than not. Make sure to see some of the stage shows like Lion King. Don't miss any of the 4D shows!! He'll get a kick out of those!

a 4D show goes one step beyond 3D, which is spectacular there. 4D is more interactive.

you really feel like you can just reach out and touch things. it's pretty cool.


there are several 3d and 4d shows, like Mickey's Philharmagic in MK. MuppetsVision, Honey I Shrunk the Audience.. I'm totally drawing a blank. lol I'm sure others can help out! lol

The other one is Its Tough to be a Bug at AK, in the tree of life.

For what is is worth my DH is the "stroller guardian" as he is not much of a thrill rider or a spinner. Sometimes I even take the older 2 kids back to the parks for extra magic hours to ride more of the thrill rides so he doesn't have to wait around for us. He is happy to lay around the room & watch TV & the little one that is still too short for most of the thrill rides.

that is the best thing about Disney, you don't have to like rides to go there. There are plenty of shows to see and non spinny rides to ride. I get severe motion sickness, I have this patch that I get from the dr and it works wonders. The rides I could do before are the calm ones and there are PLENTY of them around. I think he will have a good time at the world.
