Traveling with new cruisers

Were you booking your mom in a stateroom by herself? If so, I don't think you can book that when Gold bookings open. I think someone on here reservation would need to have Gold status. Maybe you could book someone else from you family that does have gold status in here room? I don't know how many people will be traveling in the three rooms, but it probably would be cheaper overall if you book someone in with your mom. As a solo traveler, her reservation would be almost the same price as two adults.

Yes! I had forgotten about the cost of booking her as a solo. I think I’m going to book my (silver) son in with my mother, so that I can book that stateroom the day after my own, and then my sister will book her family on the next day, which will be the first “open for everyone” booking day. This should also save my sister and I some money vs. booking our mother as a single-occupant in a 5A veranda stateroom, lol.

Thanks for the reminder!

No, we cruised once without him, so he’s one step behind us.

How interesting that Disney doesn't bump up the other family members to a matching status. As I alluded to, my son was merely an embryo on our first cruise (Royal), and therefore he hasn't earned platinum on Royal (which is the equivalent-ish to gold on Disney), but he IS platinum because his parents are.

I sometimes get confused by the un-family-friendly things Disney does sometimes compared to others! Sorry I got it wrong. :)

When he turns 18 (or 21?) does he retain that status or does he get bumped down? If my mother started cruising on RCCL, would I get her status, too or only minors? Not trying to be argumentative, I'm just trying to understand the logistics of how their system works.
