How do we make this work? My family and I used to live in FL but don't anymore, and some friends of ours are going to meet us at the park for a couple of days of our stay this winter. I'm doing most of the planning, since it's our vacation and they're just tagging along. I assume they have to book all of their own rooms and tickets to get FL rates, and even though she offered to book for me, I figured it wouldn't work and wasn't worth the risk. Can we link our reservations after she books rooms? Ask to by near each other, etc.? Can I make fastpass selections for her? Thanks!!

You both need to add "traveling with [reservation number]" to your reservations. That is probably the best way to get close to the other family.

We've done this many times. It's exactly as u suspected. They set up their own MDE account and make all their own purchases for room and tickets. Call Disney Reservations and as previous poster says, have them note "travelling with reservation XYZ". Have them do the same. When u both have an option for room area selection you can still choose where to be, just make sure u both reserve the same thing. Such as "near transportation" or "1st floor."
Depending on the resort, u may need to be booked in the same room category.

We have never had problems at a value, mod or deluxe, doing this. Always are in adjoining rooms (if we requested such) or just a few doors away.

Oh, as for the fastpasses.... if u link your MDE accounts ("invite" a family/friend option in MDE) and they grant u rights then yes, u can book for both parties.
