Hi Everyone -

This will be my first trip traveling with a toddler. I am trying to get a rough idea of how many diapers to pack. I know this is a silly question kind of since every child is different. I am just lost when it comes to traveling with a toddler as this is my first time with my first child. Thanks in Advance.

I would always just start paying attention for a few days before leaving and count how many times we changed my son's diaper throughout the day. Then round up (so if there was a day with 9, one with 10 and one with 11, I would just count on 11 each day to be safe) and add in a few more for good measure. :)

We never ran out in the parks (we did open-close), but there was one time when we were on the very last diaper and were praying it would last until we got back to the hotel!

I had a box of diapers delivered so that they wouldn't take up valuable luggage space.

I think a good rule of thumb (at least the one used in my daycare) is one diaper every 2 hours or so. Obviously if you notice that they are wet or dirty, you can change earlier than that. I think the diaper bag generally had about 6 diapers in it for park days?

Worst case scenario and you start to run out - order more via Amazon.

Absolute dire situation - the baby care centers in each park sell diapers. I didn't see the prices last time I was there but I'm sure they are not the low cost option lol

I would be safe and go with 6-8 in a ziplock per day. If you don’t use all of them, more is better than less and just use the extras for the next day.

Work out how many you use and add 2 per day if you are going when it is hot out. Your LO might pee a little more if they are drinking more due to the heat.
we ran out with 2 days left on our vacation, was impressed with the price at the resort for a small pack that would see us through. But just get some from Amazon or similar if you run out.

We brought enough for 6 per day, but also went to the water parks every other day where he was in a swim diaper for a good chunk of the day. It turned out to be the perfect amount for us, but every little one is different in how many diapers they go through in a day. For my daughter, we typically packed at least 8 per day as she went through diapers quicker.

Keep track of what your little one usually goes through and add a couple more per day. Knowing how many he normally goes through will help you to keep track of whether or not he's drinking enough at the parks (if he's not going through as many diapers, he may be a bit dehydrated).

It has been a few years since we have used them, but when DD was younger we used to order diapers and other items from Garden Grocer- they deliver directly to the resort. DD was a picky eater, so we would get the diapers, milk, fruit, cereal, snacks for her in the parks in case she wouldn't eat her meal etc. You can pick a delivery window, so we would usually pick around the time the plane would land. We would get to the resort and it would be waiting for us. Bell services will keep perishables cold. This year, WDW started charging $6 to deliver it to your room from bell services, but unless something has changed, you can still go down there and get it from them with no charge.

I took the entire cloth stash that I had for mine. Due to allergies we could only use brands like 7th generation and Earth's Best in a limited capacity and I was not going to risk having a miserable child on our trip. So that I could wash everything the evening before we did use the natural hypoallergenic disposables during the washing and drying and for the night before. We woke our toddler up with enough time to change really quick into a fresh diaper for the trip to the airport and literally out the door. We had a couple of juice boxes for the kids to have for breakfast in the airport (at the time there was no place to eat in our local airport other than a couple of vending machines that were known for taking your money and not giving anything or having lights on that a product was out. The gift shop didn't open till close to 3 hours after our flight. Plan was to wait till the kids asked for the juice boxes but security insisted that they had to be opened so that we didn't have any spills they had them after we got through security. We did a change at the layover airport prior to getting on the plane along with getting something to eat. We had a small snack on the first flight which is about 90 minutes. Ended up doing 1 change on 2nd flight which was just under 5 hours. We had 2 different snack times. We would take 3-4 diapers prepped and ready to go (we typically used pockets so preparing them was putting in an insert) and the smaller of our wet bags to head to the parks.
Flew in on Saturday and I did a fairly major load along with other laundry that we had on Wednesday afternoon. That was our DHS day and since it closed at 5 going and doing wash and enjoying the pool after dinner around 7 was on my agenda. I did a 2nd smaller wash on the Saturday after our arrival in order to not have as many to pack in our larger wet bag and place in the suitcase of dirty laundry for the early morning flight home ( by early I mean 7 am flight and no I don't recommend that time. We headed back to the resort from the parks around 3 so I did laundry and packing in the time from 4 till around 7 when we headed to get something to eat using our last table service credit, left there and stopped and got a single personal pizza meal, and used our last 2 snack credits to get some apples and caramel sauce and a set of carrot and celery sticks with ranch dip to eat the next morning. This way everyone could have something between those items and the little bit of cereal and milk that we had left in the room. No place was going to be open at our resort before the 4 am ME pick up time and we didn't know if we would be able to find anything at the airport (never did find any place open but that was back in 2010. I did end up purchasing a fruit and muffin bundle on the longer of the 2 return flights just to have something to eat as my kids took most of what I was planning on having to eat. (I ended up with the salad from the pizza meal) We did a change prior to Bell Services picking us and our luggage up, did a quick change just before getting on the plane using our night time system of 2 inserts and a doubler plus an over cover. Let's just say there was a lot of snoring on that flight me I played on my phase 10 game, read a good book and got a lot of attention being on of the few people awake. Trust me I tried to fall asleep but never did manage to on the plane. Did another change when we landed and ended up doing 2 changes during the layover plus one just before the last leg flight.
Originally we were supposed to have a 45 minute layover but the airline had changed it to 2.5 hours and our layover ended up being extended to close to 5 hours due to a mechanical issue with the plane, waiting to get a different plane there from another location, finding out the flight crew would be over the hours they could work by regulations when we landed so an on call crew had to be called and we had to wait some more. Finally got home that night and since mom crashed until dad just before dad headed for work the next evening didn't do a load of diapers or any of the laundry until Monday evening and might not have gotten the diapers done until Tuesday morning. (I was just going to sit on the couch for 5-10 minutes before starting to unpack and ended up falling asleep and slept for over 20 hours. My DH said he tried to wake me up to get me to bed but I didn't even stir so he got the kids their dinner which consisted of scrambled eggs and toast from the bread, eggs, and milk my dad went and picked up when he went and picked up my mom from evening church service (my brother had planned to go do some shopping so he dropped her off but wasn't going to stay in town till service would be over for her and my sister. My dad brought us home and then said I am going in a bit early to get a few items from the store. They had used up the last of their bread, eggs, milk things like that prior to leaving themselves.

Diaper changing every 2 to 2 1/2 hours is a pretty good rule of thumb. With the heat you want to make sure they are drinking, and therefore will be peeing. So for a 12 hour day, (knowing you might not be in park or out that long) is say 6 to 9 per day. Do you plan on using the Casey's Splash area in MK and\or splash pads i n Epcot to cool down, you'll need the extra diapers for that too.

We went when my son was 18 months. I got the huge boxes of Pampers cruisers. He was in size 7 diapers, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to buy any on-site. I took half a box with me (each box had 2 sleeves of diapers, I took one sleeve). It was way too many (and I knew that), but then I didn’t have to try to calculate anything. I knew I’d have plenty.

For my kids, I always take enough for 10 per day and that has always been more than enough. I figure better safe than sorry.
