Traveling with a past positive Covid result.

Has anyone travelled to the US with a former positive test? I am wondering about the documents I need. We all tested positive a few weeks ago but our tests results from AHS don’t specifically say pcr tests.

In MB I’ll have to call to get proper documentation listing the requirements. We also don’t get all the info online when we see our positive result.

I’m the only one in my family who has Covid and I’m seriously considering a solo trip now that I won’t need to be tested.

I am really wondering how provinces that are now relying on rapids will approach post-covid travel testing now. I already told DH, if we test positive on rapids, we will be paying for a private PCR somewhere. Sad it has come to this but I would want it on record somewhere that I had COVID, for travel and medical purposes.

I agree and this is why I made sure to go get a PCR. But I’ve heard the hold time is 4 hours to reach someone to ask for the proper paperwork, so maybe I’ll pay somewhere. Hadn’t thought of that!

The problem will be finding a place that will test you symptomatically for travel purposes. I haven’t found a place yet. I’m curious to see whether we can somehow leverage our government-funded PCRs. Our PHU website says they won’t provide paperwork for travel purposes, so if people are traveling with proof of recovery, I’m really keen to know how they’re doing it.

This is what I’m worried about as well. We leave later this month, and what happens if we get COVID confirmed with an at home test now, and then our pretrip test is also positive? We won’t have the “official” positive test paperwork.

The one costly alternative is to get those at home PCR test from Switch Health that are supervised and will provide you with the proper documentation. From Canada, Switch offers the "regular" lab-based PCR and the rapid RT-LAMP PCR Test. Not sure about the US, but Canada recognized the RT-LAMP PCR test for entry purpose

That’s a good plan. The US seems to want a doctors note clearing you for travel in addition to the lab positive in the last 3 months.

I’m not going around looking for COVID, but if it finds me, I want to be prepared !
