Traveling Week Before Christmas

Hi Everyone:

We are planning on visiting DW the week before Christmas Dec 19-23. For our other trips, we always have taken advantage of some type of special offer -- Free Dining Plan, Gift Card, etc. I was told by a DW enthusiast friend that Disney never offers any incentives during December since this is a prime season. Should I go ahead and book now -- or wait as the summer goes on to see if any incentives reach into our travel period? Any thoughs would be appreciated.

I would go ahead and book now. Then if a special offer comes out then you could always change the reservation or have the special offer applied to it.

Hello and welcome to the dis.

I would suspect that you will be able to get a room discount later in the year at that time. I have already received a special offer or pin code that is for my family only for 20% off values and moderates or 30% off deluxe and it includes the week leading up to Christmas. Now normally, but not always what I get as a pin code offer does eventually end up as a public offer.

Now there are lots of rules about cancellation dates, etc with what you book.; also room only vs vacation package rules--but I would keep hunting for a deal. Also you may want to go on the Disney website and "plan" your vacation while logged in, but not book the trip. (When it asks why you are not booking, select cost of vacation) In the past this has triggered pin code offers, but can't be certain if this still works.

Hmmm, you should tell your friend to check mousesavers list of historical discounts to see all the deals that included December dates in previous years, like these from last year :

For stays 10/4/09-12/24/09 Florida Resident room-only rates became available on 7/23/09, exp 12/24/09
For stays 10/4/09-12/24/09 room-only discount for general public became available on 7/27/09, exp 9/26/09, extended to 10/31/09, extended to 12/20/09
For stays 10/4/09-12/24/09 package discount for general public became available on 7/27/09, exp 9/26/09
For stays 11/1/09-12/24/09 package deal for general public (7 nights for price of 4 or 7 nights for price of 5) became available on 9/28/09, exp 12/20/09
