A few years ago, I decided to use the Mears shuttle, in order to get some first hand info about it. I passed up an offer from a friend to drive me to WDW from MCO...she was arriving about the same time. So, I booked my Mears ride in advance, online. I needed it just one way since I was moving over to BCV midway through my stay.
I went down to the Mears counter, level 1, and tried to print out my voucher, but that didn't work. The woman at the counter had to print it out for me. No biggie. I then walked over to the bus area, and was given a 'beeper' thingie. I was told it would be about 20 mins until my ride came. So, I sat down to rearrange my stuff in my carryon bag. I had no checked baggage, just the one largish carryon and a totebag. Well, I no sooner got my bag opened when my beeper went off. I was told to go over to the van that had been loading when I originally got there. Evidently, they weren't sure if there would be enough room for me. I handed off my bag and hopped into the van. We made about 2 stops prior to heading to WDW. It was actually kind of interesting since I had had no idea Old Town even existed...very interesting part of Orlando. We got to the Swan, then over to the Dolphin....so I was the 4th stop. It took me about 90 mins, from gate to Dolphin, vs 70ish using DME.
It really was a good experience. I wouldn't have an issue doing it that way again. Now...if there were 3 or 4 people in my group, I would hire a car service. At about $32 pp, r/t, it's cheaper to use a car service for 4 people.
