Traveling in June, need some advice

Hi everyone! I'm going to Disney World with a friend to celebrate my 20th birthday from June 16 - 21st. I realize it's not a good time to go because it's summertime, but it's really the only time I can get off (I'm recording my first album, so this is the first chance I've had to take a vacation in AGES!). I also really want to be there for my birthday, it just wouldn't be as special celebrating earlier or later. So anyway, I had a question that I would LOVE some advice on:

We're going to be at the parks for 5 days. We're planning a full day at Magic Kingdom, a full day at Epcot, 1/2 a day at both water parks, 1/2 a day at Animal Kingdom and a full day at Disney-MGM. I'm starting to wonder if we need an extra day, and I was wondering if I could get your advice about how many days we need at the parks, considering the June crowd? One major factor is that I don't do thrill rides in any way, shape or form -- I am terrified of "drops" and roller coasters (the drop in Pirates at Disneyland is too much for me, haha). The scariest ride I can do is Soarin'. So we won't be waiting in line for the big E-ticket rides.

Thank you soo much for your advice, I truly appreciate it!!

All The Best,
Alexandra

I personally go 2 -3 times at the MK ;)

It's my favorite and it seems it takes me longer to get through that park, or to have enough ;)

If you are doing all those parks in a row, you will be tired. If you can fit in an off day that might help. Heat & humidity wears you out. Be sure to drink plenty of water, shop some to cool off, plan what you want to do ahead of time so you wont be wandering around trying to figure it out & most importantly GET THERE BEFORE THE PARK OPENS! This is the best thing you can do, the 1st couple of hours you will get more done than the rest of the day.

Good luck with your album.

I think you should check out Tour Guide Mike. It costs around $18 to join and he has a money back guarantee if you don't like it.

He gives you tips and information on how to tour the parks to your best advantage. Plus, I would think since you're avoiding the big draw rides, you'll have an easier time of it.

Have fun! We're going in June too, but we'll be there earlier than you. :wave2:

The heat and humidty will get you as much as the crowd will if not more. I suggest getting to the parks EARLY before opening doing what you want to do the most 1st and then working from there to your least interested attraction.

A break midafternoon is almost a must in the summer even it's only doing indoor shows and riding the monorial a few times. If possible go back to your room and relax in the A/C and maybe go for a swim. Then go back about 5pm.

Some rides that are not considered thrill rides can have a very long line Peter Pan comes to mind. But PP also has fast pass as well.

Touring all the parks plus waterparks at this time of year takes longer. If you are an early riser and get to the parks before opening you should be ok with 5 days since you don't do the thrill rides but if you truly want to have a relaxing vacation this time of year you need 10 days to see and do everything.

I know 10 days is hard to work in and we are only going to be there 8 days the week after you and plan on riding it all so it can be done. As a previous poster said, make sure you plan ahead. Unofficial Guide has easy to follow touring plans which you can tear out of the back of the book and take with you to the parks. If the plan lists an attraction that isn't your cup of tea, just skip and go to the next. They also list the best days to go to each park at touringplans.com. HAVE FUN! :cool1:

Thank you so much for the advice!! What we decided to do is allow 2 days for Magic Kingdom: our first day (a full day, with maybe a midday break at the hotel) and our last day (our flight is at 7:40 PM, so we have morning and afternoon). Thanks again!!
