I am leaving in 3 days. We are driving from MI. I was just wondering, for those of you who have traveled down I-75 recently, if there is any construction, lane closers, slow downs, or anything else that I should be aware of? Thank you.

If you can, try to avoid Atlanta during rush hour.

Tune to WSB 750 AM for frequent traffic updates.

Once you get past Atlanta you will have about 7 hours of driving left.

In south GA there is construction. Speed limits drop down to 60 and then 50.

I live 3 miles from 75 in Franklin, OH. (south of Dayton) There are lane changes, but right now not much construction going on for the fourth lane. They are also putting in a new overpass right past the I-675 interchange. All three lanes are open but the speed limit drops to 55 right after you pass the new overpass and Highway Patrol is around. They have had lots of accidents which is why they lowered speed. You shouldn't have any problems, just watch your speed. It's approx. 15 miles of 55 speed limit. There is construction off and on until your across the bridge into KY, but should be no problem just slower during rush hour.

Thanks for the responses! We always drive straight through and I do most of the driving. I am all about avoided slow downs if I can help it!

I see you are leaving in 3 days, meaning Thursday. Southern KY is forecasted to have several inches, if not a foot of snow, starting Thursday. I would strongly advise changing travel plans immediately as the mountainous areas quickly become impassible in that type of snow. Early maps show snow over a foot from roughly Lexington, KY through Knoxville, TN during a period of Thursday through Saturday morning.

I would change plans to get through here by Wednesday, or it could be Sunday/Monday before it is safe again.

when we drove from chicago the first week of January the construction was in tifton GA about exit 59 for 30 miles traffic was very slow and sometimes completely stopped going and coming

We are supposed to fly out of Nashville on Friday AM for a cruise on Saturday. We are thinking about starting driving from MO around 1:00 PM Wednesday and at least getting past Atlanta. We will miss the bad weather if we do this won't we? We are too scared to chance the airport and getting stuck in Nashville and not making the cruise. We have Southwest and we will just get travel vouchers if we have to. Are we crazy?

Thank you for the heads up! I am looking at weather.com and as of this morning it is saying just few snow showers in Lexington on Thursday and rain showers in Knoxville. We should hit Lexington around 9pm.

If your local weather station has something different, could you please send me the link so I can keep an eye on it. Thank you.

www.kyweathercenter.com, www.wtvq.com, www.lex18.com, www.wkyt.com are the local links. Accuweather is showing 6-12 here too.
The latest forecasts show the snow moving in later into Thursday night/Friday morning. It also looks worse further south along the KY/TN border.

OK, I'm officially freaking out.

We're leaving Friday early evening from Greater Cincinnati. We're spending the night at my in-laws right outside Knoxville. Saturday, we're driving as far as Valdosta, and we're driving the final four hours on Sunday.

The way you're talking, we won't even make it out of Kentucky before Monday???

And no, we can't leave any earlier.

Where in Missouri are you?

I have heard that from Kansas City it is every bit of 20 hours to Orlando. I think the drive to Atlanta would be about 13 hours from KC..
