Traveling from HS to AKL and then back to Yacht Club?

We have a one night AKL stay before moving to Yacht Club. Our day at AKL will just be a resort day and ideally we would have loved to do the Starlight Safari that night but it is booked which didn’t surprise me as it seems very limited capacity wise.

I was able to get the safari for Sunday night so I booked it but this is our first night at Yacht Club. My plan was to do Animal Kingdom in the morning (after dropping off luggage to be transferred) and then park hopping to Hollywood Studios for that night.

I figure we could take the bus from HS to AKL for the 10:00pm safari (would leaving at 8:00pm be too late?). I’m worried this will cut into a lot of park time but maybe not? Also, getting back to Yacht Club after the safari - I’m guessing Uber or a cab? Maybe the Minnie Vans? They are back, right? I want to make this the least stressful for everyone so any suggestions would be appreciated. We definitely want to do the safari and this is the only other night it would fit into our schedule.

Transportation-wise, the easiest way to get from AKL to YC would be Uber/Lyft or Minnie Van. Minnie Vans have returned, but are not always available so you want to have a back-up plan.

Are you sure that's how you want to spend a day? Get up early to pack, check out of hotel # 1 and drop off luggage at Bell Services, go to AK, go to DHS, go back to AKL for a 10:00 pm safari, then leave AKL at about 11:00 pm to go to YC? I'm exhausted just thinking about it. I'm also stressed out just thinking about it. I, personally, would be too wiped out to appreciate the Starlight Safari.

I also would be worried that I would show up at YC after all that, and find out there was a problem with the room, or that the luggage had not been delivered. I would not have the patience to deal with it politely after such an exhausting day.

I probably would not have the patience to deal politely with any little glitch on a day like that.

Perhaps everyone in your group is more laid back than I am, and has more stamina than I do.

I did the safari in May when staying at AKL. It was nice. Just be aware that weather can effect it, we weren’t able to do all the safari area because there was lightning in the area. The safari check is at Kidani and you need to be there 15 minutes beforehand. To get back, ride sharing would be quicker since parks are probably closed so you would have to go through DS for Disney transportation.

I agree with what Best Aunt said. Plus, depending on how many park days you have that cuts time away from HS. You would not know until 7 am that day what your LL or $ILL will be and when we were there in November could not get ROTR on our HS day but was able to get a 6 pm the next day when we park hopped there after our AK day. We got to the ride and it was down which frequently happens. We waited nearby and it was back up in an hour and rushed to get in the line before others who also had to come back from one of the many times it was down that day. We were lucky it could have taken longer to fix or there could have been a lot of people waiting who had come back which would have taken a longer time to experience so I personally would not want the pressure of needing to leave by a certain time to be elsewhere but I know everyone is different.

I’ll admit it’s not ideal, but probably our only chance to do this safari. It will not be a relaxing day but the next 6 days will not be so packed like this.

I did think about all of the LL and $ILL issues we could have at HS but we will get another chance to go back there if it doesn’t work out. I considered doing HS in the morning and AK in the afternoon but that really doesn’t help since AK closes earlier.

In the meantime I’m going to keep checking for the safari on our first night/stay at AKL and hope I can catch a cancellation.

looking for a cancellation is a great idea. Barring that I would uber also from HS. Less stress and quicker. I love uber for tight schedules!
