So we are staying at the dessert rose which is near the MGM grand.

We are only in LV one night. We are interested in seeing the outdoor free shows at the Bellagio, mirage and treasure island. We would also like to walk part of the strip and see the Fremont street experience. What would your recommendations be on how to get to these spots.

Well the Bellagio is only a couple blocks away. Giant, long blocks. Walking is very possible, and nice to do with lots of things to see. If you are a decent walker I would walk the strip. It's just another long block down to TI.

To Freemont Street, go when it's getting dark. A Cab will be about 20-25. You can take the bus strait down LV blvd for a couple bucks.

From the MGM Grand to the Bellagio is ~1 mile. TI is ~1/2 mile beyond that.

So what would be an easy way to travel
Walking is an easy way to travel the mile or so.

There is a bus called the Deuce that travels the strip and even goes to Freemont St. You can also travel by cab.

I love the Desert Rose, I always ride the duece it is 7 dollars for a 24 hr period. They have a continental breakfast which is a good deal. Eggs, toast, sausage, juices, coffee, soda machince, cereal. Love the pool. Has laundry rooms. And the rooms are awesome. Enjoy your stay.

I will upload some pics

thank you so much for the info!

usnuzuloose, Thanks for giving the hotel a nice endorsement. ANd thanks for posting the pics. It does look nice. Wasn't sure if it was going to be OK to stay there. And I was worried the pool would be too small. Good to hear that it is OK.

Questions... if staying at the Desert Rose, where do you go to catch the Deuce? does the pool get crazy? Do you remember how much it costs to do laundry? I think I may have to do some while we are there. any other helpful hints would be great!

If you walk over to the mgm just be sure to walk through the hooters parking lot. Any bus stop you walk by they have machines to purchase the tickets. some you can use cash, some they only take the atm debit-credit cards. I think the wash and dry was 1.25 or 1.50. Bad memory. They have a laundry baskey in the closet, along with an iron and ironing board. The kitchen has dishes, pots and pans. It has dish soap, there is a dishwasher. There are ice machines. I will look and see what other pics I have to put up for you. I really enjoy it there as its near the strip but yet not on the strip. The pool can get a little crowded in the day. But I usually went in the evening anyway. They have 2 jaccuzis as well. They put towels in the drawers in the living room. They also have barbques to use out by the pool as well. The hotel will start them for you as well. Going to see if I have more pics.

They have the store inside for some stuff. They also have free internet access. They also have a computer and a printer in the lobby if you need to print things. Last I knew they dont charge for it. They dont charge for parking your car there. Just make sure to keep your tag in the window when you park. Its also a gated community. They have a workout out room as well. Hope this helps you a little more.

That depends on time of year and time of day.

When are you going?

We typically walk, except during summer or mid-day. Temperatures can get over 100 degrees F.
