We always buy travel insurance for our cruise vacations. This was #4 for us. We have always used Travelex as recommended through Insuremytrip. We have never needed to file a claim. While this was a fairly inexpensive and minor thing I thought someone might value the review!

My 10 yr old DS began to complain of ear pain about 2 hours after boarding the Fantasy on June 2nd. We watched it until the next morning, he wasn't feeling bad and had no fever, and saw the ship physician Dr. Anne first thing. She was so sweet! It was not a complicated visit and he was diagnosed with swimmers ear and an ear infection. I travel with quite an extensive pharmacy so we didn't have to purchase any medication. He was back to normal in a couple of days.

I submitted my claim a week later, on the first day we got back home. Note, call them first and they will email you all of the forms to complete. Saved us a bunch of time. We got our reimbursement check in the mail yesterday. No questions, super easy.

Great customer service. We were very pleased.

Just curious Kayla, why did you submit a claim or should I say. What was the reason? Do you get reinbursed if you are sick on the boat?

thanks

Scott

There is a charge to visit the ship's doctor--in our case (I am not OP), it was $191. OP submitted her claim to the travel insurance to be reimbursed for her visit charge.

I am guessing that Disney charged her for seeing the Dr. so she submitted that charge to the insurance company.

Oops already got answered :)

Not 100% sure why the OP filed a claim, but I'm going to guess that it was for the doctor visit, which has been well over $100 when we have had to do it.

As for getting reimbursed, it depends...... a few years ago we were on the Magic and my son was diagnosed with norovirus, which we think he picked up on day one of the cruise. He was confined to our cabin for 48 hours, and since he was a minor at the time, one of us had to stay with him all the time. I submitted a claim (also Travelex insurance) and they reimibursed us for two days of his cruise fare and two days of one adult fare. Turned out to be a sizeable amount, since we were staying in a suite. We had the check from the insurance company within a week of sending in the paperwork. Travelex was great to work with and we have always purchased insurance from them since that incident.

We were charged $144 for the visit to the ship doctor, which was immediately charged to our onboard account. Our insurance covers any medical so we sought reimbursement.

Thanks for your review of this company. The lady I spoke to was really nice and let me know which plan would work best for me. I bought my policy today.

Thanks for your review. We just bought Travelex Select from insuremytrip based on your review.

(I did try the online chat function to speak to the customer service about which plan to buy. The chat functions sucks---I waited 10 minutes for a person to connect and she never answered my question. I bought the plan anyway.)

I went to Travelex's website directly and spoke to a woman from that company and then bought right from their website after her recommendations.

I always go with Travelex and always will.

A few years ago, on a non-Disney vacation, we had booked on British Airlines to fly to London and then on to Italy. We got there just fine, but on the way home our flights were cancelled due to a strike. We ended up having to stay in Italy an extra four days, as they couldn't get us on another flight before that (so sad.) Travelex paid hotel, food, and transportation for those four days to the tune of around $1000.

I didn't think they would cover a worker's strike, but they did. No questions asked.

Money well spent. They seem to be a top-notch company in my opinion.
