Does anyone have experience with this insurance for travel? The protections seem to be all we need, but since it is less expensive than some of the others, we hoped to find someone who had experience with the Travelex Company, whether good or bad.

I am curious too as we are looking at them for our January cruise. Does anyone have experience using them?

Though I haven't bought it yet, I am planning on buying Travelex Travelite for my 5 day Xmas cruise. Many people on cruisecritic.com have said positive things about this policy, both cost and coverage. Insuremytrip.com is a great site for insurance research as it has a compilation of many companies with comparison capability.

Thanks for the information. I knew I could count on this group!

We've bought this insurance for 2 trips now, and we like it because the price is great for the broad coverage of the policy. The only thing I can't comment on is making a claim...luckily we haven't had to use it!
Also, purchasing it yourself (if your TA doesn't work through this company) is really easy!

Good Luck!!

We used it and made a claim because our luggage was delayed and would not arrive until 3 days into our cruise.

We almost missed the ship too.

Travelex was great in explaining what they would do if we did miss the ship. They would make arrangements for us to meet it in St. Maarten.

When we got home, I made a claim for the purchases we made on board to get us by until our luggage arrived. They insisted on having the original receipts, they sent my receipts back because they wanted an itemized listing of who bought what, but they paid the claim (over and above what we had already been reimbursed by Delta). They also wanted a copy of the formal claim to Delta, which did not exist, so they accepted a copy of the check stub from Delta to prove the claim.

I thought they were easy to work with. Even when I procrastinated in getting the receipts to them, they sent me a letter to let me know the claim was still open.

I also bought this insurance for our cruise. As we haven't gone yet, I have no experience to share.

At first I was just going to insure only the cruise portion of our trip, but when I experimented by also including the airfare and the dates for our entire trip, the price didn't change! I recommend you purchase through http://insuremytrip.com/ ; this gave a much better price than going directly through the Travelex web site, which I found to be difficult to navigate.

I did call InsureMyTrip and ask why Travelex rates were so much lower than other companies. I was told it was in part because our two children were included for free, while other companies charge for each person.

That's funny that you got a different quote through the website you mentioned...I checked it out to see how much I could have saved and it is exactly what I paid going through the Travelex website. I agree that the website was very user friendly!

I just checked Travelex site and insurmytrip and both gave me the same quote for our trip.

I also did a comparison with CSA and I think we will go with CSA. They had the same coverage and were much cheaper...$137 compared to $206.

Sorry, I suppose I just had trouble finding the same product on the Travelex site.

Does anyone remember the link to the AccessAmerica site that will provide the quote and shows the kids are free? I know this was a AAA perk (I am a member), but I can't remember the link. I can't find the right place on the site.

I thought that was a very good pricing with Access America and I used them before. I asked the guy on the phone numerous times about the pricing per person when the kids were free. He told me to just divide the total cost of the trip by 4.

Thanks for the confirmations. I did purchase this for my next cruise.

Last cruise I used TravelSafe and did have to file claims since it was during Hurricane Frances. They were GREAT if anyone is wondering about their services after seeing them on insuremytrip.com.
