We just got back, and we used traveler's checks everywhere. There was one small refreshment stand that wouldn't accept them at the MK. I can't remember which one, though. My husband did it, and he was trying to pay for a couple of drinks with a $100 traveler's check. It might have just been that they couldn't make the change.
We use a lot of travlers checks but what we do is to charge almost everything with our room key and then use our travlers checks to just pay off the balance evey couple of days. We keep them locked in the in room safe until then.
We also had a problem using some of our $100 ones, so our next trip we got smaller denominations. It was a lot more paper to deal with, but a lot easier to use. We kept the extras locked in the safe as well.
You can use a travelers check any where you can write a check. Most food kiosks don't take checks, so don't take travelers checks. We used to take them a lot. Now we just use a credit card on our room key and pay it off, or we just use the ATM machine. I like not having to keep track of all that money, even as travelers checks. Stephen keeps a detailed account of what we spend so we don't over spend. He's very good at this, darn him!
