Travel Time Questions

I have some questions concerning travel time maybe someone could help me with.

I will be at DL for 2 days...driving in Sunday Sept. 30th and staying 1 night and going again the next day..Mon. Oct. 1st.

Then the next day we will likely be doing a Warner Bros studio tour and possibly stuff around Santa Monica.

So, the question is...do we stay in Anaheim at the same hotel both Sunday and Monday night and then drive towards Warner Bros Studios area Tuesday morning (not sure about traffic times), or stay just Sunday night in Anaheim and drive to a different location Monday night after DL closes (which I think will be around 8pm).

I am wondering about traffic times...would it be better to drive that direction on a Monday night late...or Tuesday morning?

Also...traffic from Santa Monica area towards Warner Bros studio area...is traffic bad going that way? Don't know if we should stay a night in the Warner Bros studio area or Santa Monica area and drive in.

I hope this makes sense...any help is appreciated.

Traffic will be much easier on a Monday night vs. a Tuesday morning...especially heading towards LA.

Thanks...that is what I figured...I know it will be late Monday night arriving somewhere else, but probably worth it.

Do you know about traffic from LA to Santa Monica and the reverse? Now I am trying to decide, do I stay at a hotel in Santa Monica and drive into LA or stay a night in LA and do the studio stuff or whatever we want to do, and then go to Santa Monica.

Would it be fair to say that later evening travel will always be better than morning...even mid-morning?

Yes.

We went to Santa Monica Palisades area, and it took us about two hours to get back to DL midday. After 7pm the freeways lighten up considerably. During the day there is a lot of traffic, especially as people go to work or leave.

Traffic may lighten up after 10 Am or so...but notice I said MAY...in LA, you never know what you are going to come across on the freeways.

Thanks everyone! I was wondering if traffic from Santa Monica to LA was any better than from Anaheim to LA...about the same distance? From what everyone is saying...traffic seems bad from either direction.

I think no matter what we will plan on travelling in the evenings.

hahahaha. I wish it were that easy. I notice you are from Honolulu....we were considering Hawaii this fall instead of CA...but we were there last December. One of these days I would love to come back!

Hahah..time travel would be great! I have no way to make that happen though.

hahahaha. I wish it were that easy. I notice you are from Honolulu....we were considering Hawaii this fall instead of CA...but we were there last December. One of these days I would love to come back!

Hawaii is a nice place. Next time you come you should skip Oahu altogether and check out the other islands. My favorites are the Big Island and Kauai, but they aren't as practical for living (no ice rinks).

Actually, we spent very little time in Oahu. We did the cruise around the islands so were several places. My favorite was Kauai. We snorkelled in Kona though and loved it! I would love to come back..and maybe just go to Kauai...and be able to really explore the island!
