About how long do you think it would take to get from LAX to a Harbor Blvd. hotel if a flight lands at 5:30 pm on a Saturday? What's traffic like at that time of night on weekends?

And what transportation would be best for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids)? "Best" meaning a blend of fastest and cheapest. ;)

Really depends on which Saturday youre flying in on. Generally, if nothing is going on, you're looking at maybe an hour tops.

As far as transportation goes, I use Lyft a lot and their prices are reasonable. However, others have mention Lansky Shuttle for family travel.

I've driven between the two a lot at various days and times. It can take anywhere between 40 minutes to and 1.5 hours on average, with it as high as 2-2.5 hours when there are accidents or lane closures/construction. On a Saturday evening at that time, unless there is something going on that you don't know about, a show, game, etc and there are no accidents(or 2 or 3) then I would say between 40-60 minutes. Towards the lower end if you take advantage of carpool lanes when you can.

I'd figure 2 - 2 1/2 hours from the time you land until you could be in the resort area, assuming minimal traffic. At LAX you'll spend a considerable amount of time getting from the runway to the gate, waiting for checked luggage and getting off airport property, in addition to driving time. Are you renting a car? You'll have to take a shuttle to the rental counter, which adds some time. If you take a shared shuttle there could be additional stops. For the shuttle or charter bus options you may also wait for the next departure. If your kids need safety seats and you're not going anywhere else, Disneyland Express bus is probably the way to go. If you're going to make other stops, just rent a car, install the seats once and that's it. If you use any other option you'd have to provide and install you own seats. There are private cars that will provide safety seats and include a grocery stop, but that's the most expensive option.
