We have a flight booked for Tuesday Mar 9th at 7pm. What time should I leave Disney to get there intime? What is the actual travel time? I will need to drop off the rental at the airport as well.

<font color=navy>I would give about an hour travel time, 1/2 hour turn in car + another 1/2 hour to get from the car rental to the airport. If the shuttle is right there, your wait will be minimal, but you don't want to chance missing your flight because you had to wait for the shtutle. Give yourself enough time to check in at the airport - is it still 2 hours domestic flights?

You'll be going during heavy traffic time - what we like to jokingly call "rush" hour.

The fastest way to get to the airport is to take the 5 north (carpool lane) to the 91 west - you can stay in the carpool lane for a couple of miles, but you'll need to make your way over to the middle lane of the freeway. The 605 isn't too far away. Take the 605 north to the 105 west (the 105 exit is the next one or two after you get on the 605, so stay on the right). Get on the 105 west carpool lane and start getting over to the middle after you pass the 405 fwy. Get off on the first exit after the 405 (I think it's Century/Aviation - I'll have to check the name -- I go to work that way every day). You'll be on Imperial Hwy -- turn left & get in right lane right away. Turn right on Aviation (wave to me at Northrop Grumman - it's on the sw corner :) ) Get in left lane on Aviation, and turn left on Century to get to the car rental places. There'll be a sign telling you to turn right to get to the car rental.

Mary Jo, you're probably the most helpful person in these discussion boards. When would you recommend leaving Disneyland for a flight out of Long Beach airport at 5:20 pm on a Monday? I've tentatively scheduled a town car to pick us up at 3pm.

Thank you!

Hi Masterrocks,

We suggest you check your flight booking the 9th of March is a Wednesday :earseek:

Have a great trip whenever it is :D

Thanks I really had my dates mixed up yesturday. I booked my wife son and I return tickets from Edmonton to LAX then booked my daughter a one way flight from LAX to Edmonton as she turns 2 while we are down in California. I booked our return flights for Tuesday the 8th but my daughters flight for the 9th OPPS She should have a interesting day at LAX all by herself:) After printing my confermation I noticed my mistake and called to bump her flight up to the 8th which the airline did:) Thanks for the heads up:)

Thanks for the GREAT directions to the airport and ideas on the best way to get from LAX to San Diego? Will be arriving LAX Wed Mar 2/05 10am. We are going to go down to Seaworld and Legoland for a couple of days to start.

Glad we could help. It is easy for a slip in a date to turn into a disaster. I suspect it would have been worse for the folks at LAX than for your DD – 2 year olds can be hard work :hyper:

As to your routing from LAX you can get great directions from http://www.randmcnally.com/ they do lack some of the local knowledge that you can get from a board but we have found them to be very easy to follow.

Have Fun

The best way is to get on the 405 - two ways to do that

As you leave the LAX horseshoe, stay to your right, and take Sepulveda South. That will take you to the 105 East. Get on the 105 fwy East. The ramp to the 405 south is just up ahead off of the 105.

If you miss the turn-off for Sepulveda South, take Century Blvd. East, and a couple of miles down the road, you'll see a sign to take the 405 south.

The 405 ends at the 5, which will take you all the way to San Diego.

So:

405 fwy south - 5 fwy south (about 2 - 2.5 hours, depending on traffic)

To get to Disneyland from San Diego -- just take the 5 north all the way to the Disneyland Resort exit. (about 1.5-2 hours)

Shelleyl,

Thank you. :)

I would expect a half hour drive to the Long Beach Airport from DL.

Take the 5 fwy south to the 22 West to the 405 north -- that would be the quickest way to get to the Long Beach Airport. The Long Beach airport isn't as busy as LAX, so I wouldn't expect the two-hour wait before a flight. If you need to return a car, I would give the same time expectancy as LAX (I just don't like to leave things to chance). I would recommend leaving at 2:30ish

There are a bunch. Off hand, I know that there is a 76 station and a Mobil on Sepulveda, about a mile south of LAX -- go past Imperial Hwy, and I think the cross street is Maple. That's not too far from the car drop-off, and the neighborhood is nice.

Take the 105 freeway west, get off on Nash (I'm not sure if you can turn left at the Sepulveda exit). Turn right on Nash, get in the left lane, and turn left on Sepulveda.
