Has anyone used the space savers bags while traveling? I'm concerned with the new standards that having everything so compressed would cause issues with the new x-ray requirements.

DH uses them all the time on business trips and has never had a problem. He tries to travel with only a carry-on bag, too.

I don't think that the increased density interferes with the X-Ray scans.

On an earlier thread (a couple of months now), an actual TSA employee posted that they like to see the useage of those types of bags, including the big zip-locks.

We purchased the 2 gal. zip-locks, and they sure can fit a lot!

We put every thing in either 2 gallon ziplock bags or the travel space saver bags in March. Had no problems. We were we glad we did because we had lots of souvenirs with us, and barely got the suitcase closed WITH the space saver bags!

when you're using those space savers....how do you get them so little again once you're in Disney and ready to head back home?

Hi,
I think that basic Storage Space Savers use a vacuum cleaner to get the air out.
But the Travel Space Savers have a diaphgram that allows you to basically squeeze the air out without any air coming back in.

Still can't go wrong with the 2 gal. ZipLocks, imo...(cheaper, too)

The travel version of the space saver bags have a valve built into them and require no vacuum cleaner to use. You put the close in the bag, zip it closed and roll the bag toward the valve and presto! compressed luggage:smooth:
