Travel questions (flight, mostly)

Okay, I have a couple last travel questions...sorry if I've asked them before. I'm sure I'll have a few more before we leave, though.

Where do you get your gate-check tag for the stroller? Id it at the ticket counter or at the counter by where you board the plane?

We're flying United. When we got our tickets they said that the strict carry-on regulations had recently been lifted. So what will that change with what we can bring on the plane (food-wise, especially, which 11 month old DD).

Can you lock your suitcase now? The last time we flew to WDW (2002), the airline said we weren't allowed to lock them. But my aunt had her digital camera stolen from hers. :(

If I'm shipping some diapers to the resort ahead of time, how do I do that? (how far ahead of when we're leaving, how do I address them to our resort, etc)

TIA!!

1. You get the tag for your stroller at the desk at the gate (the gate by where you board the plane). If you are really early there might not be someone there yet, so don't worry if you don't see anyone right away. If it gets close to boarding time you can always check with a nearby gate that has an agent at it (from the same airline of course)

2. It is best to check the TSA website for the most up-to-date allowances as far as carry ons and restrictions since things can change: www.tsa.gov That way you get the info from "the horse's mouth" so to speak.

3. Also check the TSA site - there are special TSA locks that they have keys for that you can buy if you really want to lock your luggage. I've never used one, though, so I don't have any experience.

4. I've shipped (or ordered something online) to arrive a day or two before we arrive. You can get the physical mailing address on the DIS Resort pages: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/Resorts/resortmain1.htm#hm-disneyhotels-nav You'll want to write on it "Hold for guest: _______, Arriving: _______" You may have to ask for it when you check in - sometimes they have a note in the system on your name, othertimes they don't.

Cheers!

1. Ditto to the above poster. You certainly CAN get your stroller tag at check-in, but we have always gotten them just as we are about to board the plane.

2. As far as carry on stuff for infants ....it seems that security has become quite lenient with that as long as you "declare" any food, drinks, medications that you are bringing on board for your child. They will probably have you drop it in one of those bins to go through security separate from your bags.

3. Sorry, I don't know about the locks, but I do believe I've heard about those TSA-friendly locks.

4. Will you be renting a car? Can you check if the resort carries diapers in their on site store? Whenever we travel, I bring enough diapers for a couple of days and just buy the rest when I get there. Of course it's up to you, just a suggestion. I have always found this to be much easier. :)

Have a great time!

Thanks to both of you! This really helps!!

Nope. We've got to bring all our own dipes or go broke buying them at the resort. LOL

As far as cameras and such I would really have those in carry-on bags. Anything that goes in a checked bag should not be important enough to miss if it gets stolen b/c unfortunately things like that DO happen.

I would definitely ship diapers etc. ahead of time if you're considering it. You can even get Priority Mail boxes now for a flat rate -- I'd cram as many diapers as I could into one, they squash pretty well, LOL!

Use TSA locks, they can be purchased anywhere. They will have The TSA logo. USE these locks. If you do not use them but regular locks and the TSA needs to look in bags, they will pop yor locks, then you will not have a lock anymore. The TSA officers have a master key to open them then they can re-lock them. TSA locks have been around for years.
