DD traveling to Costa Rica. Professor just emailed her and said it would be a good idea to have a travel pouch for her passport/money. No time to order online. She leaves Monday. Any ideas what kind of store would carry these? Thanks.

REI
Staples/Officemax/Office Depot (they have a travel section with bags, suitcases, travel locks, etc.)
Sportmart/Dick's/Sport Chalet (in the Camping/Travel section)
Target

I've even seen them in Walmart.

Also, while traveling in a hot and humid climate (like Costa Rica), she'll probably want to put her passport and money into a ziploc bag before putting them into the travel pouch. The pouch is meant to be worn under clothing, against the skin, for security reasons. Unfortunately, that means the pouch can get sweaty. There are specialty moisture wicking ones that might help with the problem, but those would probably have to be ordered online.

Hope she has a great trip! :flower3:

A small crossbody bag will work well. Make sure passports and money go in an internal zipper. An alternative simple solution to a travel pouch is a very small, flat crossbody bag that she can wear under her clothes, just shorten (knot)the strap.

I second the zip lock bag advice. My passport got wet from sweat in Italy and some of the ink leaked onto my picture. I had purple spots all over my face in my passport picture. Once I got home I had to get a new passport because I was scared to try to use my old one again since the picture was spotty and hard to see.

My husband used an under-the-clothing travel pouch last year on a business trip to Guatemala. We bought it at a Stern's Luggage store in the mall, but I've also seen them in other stores. He carried his passport, cash, and credit card in the pouch. He would carry a small amount of cash ($20 or less) in his pocket so he could access it quickly when buying lunch or other small things. He decided not to carry his wallet at all. It worked out well for him.

DS is using one of these for our trip to NY next month.

Being a 15 year old, and forewarned about pickpocketers and the like, I wanted to make sure his money is protected because HE is in charge of HIS money.

edited to add : I found his at a yard sale, but I have also seen them at Walmart, as another poster already said.

Walgreens will probably have cheap ones in clearance. I got one with a toothbrush case and two travel liquid bottles AND a passport holder for 89 cents a few weeks ago.

Target, Walmart, Macy's and Kohls in the luggage section. Any store that has a luggage/travel section will have them.

REI has one that has steel wires in the handle/strap so no one can cut the strap and steal the purse.

No idea about the travel pouch but we just got back from Costa Rica a few weeks ago & I bet she is going to have an AMAZING time. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Also, have to say that the locals are awesome, so friendly & nice, and we always felt safe even when traveling with 3 young kids. Hope she has a great trip!

Thanks, everyone, for all the advice. I have come to this board so many times with questions and have always gotten such great tips. I appreciate everyone taking the time to help me out.
