My 3 year old dd is finally potty trained but will not go on any public toilet seat without her baby bijorn potty seat. I don't want to have to carry this in the parks with us, so I was wondering if anyone has used those folded up travel potty seats? I read that some children don't like them because they pinch, but there is a newer version called the "cushie traveller" that is padded and folds up and has a carry bag. Has anyone used this a disney and does it actually fit on most seats without sliding around?

Thanks in advanace for any suggestions or opinions on the cushie traveller seat. :)

Congrats on the potty training... I've never used the travel potty seats, but Don't forget pull-ups. Even the best potty trained kids may have an accident. ie. in the lines to the bathroom. Standing in a 45 min line to see a ride. Or just way to excited to realize they have to go "NOW"

I am a freak when it comes to public restrooms and germs... Ugh... We will be packing paper seat covers for my 3yo niece. Target Online sells cover that are made of a heavy paper. Similar to that of a disposable changing pad.

The Cushie Traveller is great!!!! I didn't use at Disney because my DS didn't need it anymore, but when he was still using it I used to carry it everywhere and I never found a toilet that it didn't fit on. It's so much better than the plastic folding seats. We had a Blues Clues one and my DS sat on it and it cracked while he was one it. The cracked edge was very sharp and I'm grateful he didn't cut himself.

How long till you go ? Could you try desensitizing her by going in a lot of public bathrooms before you leave and quit using one at home. only use the regular toilet seat. Have you tried keeping hold of her while she is sitting on the seat? My very skinny 2 yr old son always felt like he would fall in (and did a few times at home, snicker)and he felt better if I kept my hands around his waist. I know I would not want to add a thing to the ton of things you already get stuck hauling around Disney. Sneakily maybe you could plan a trip to where you know has a bathroom and not have the seat, if she has to pee she probably will give in and go and if not at least you aren't in a theme park, and often once they see it is ok they keep doing it. I guess I just never gave my kids the option.

We had the little foldup potty seat, not sure if it was called the same thing or not. Had what looked like plastic shopping bags with a cottony liner to "catch" the pee. It worke like a charm when DD was just getting trained. She doesn't need it anymore, but we just kept it out in the van.

I agree with previous poster that you should try to take her into as many public restrooms as you can before your trip (yeah, I know....eeeew!) and preferably at some that have the automatic flush.

We had BIG issues with the toilets at all the parks because almost 100% of them flush automatically! The first time she got on one, she started to move around and it flushed while she was on it. She FREAKED. I had to cover the sensor AND help her get on the toilet (since she was refusing). So EVERY, SINGLE time she had to go potty, I had to hold my finger over the sensor til after she got off. It was crazy. She's kinda used to it now, but it was definitely a challenge!

Post it notes work really well. They stick well and come off easily without leaving any residue when you are done.

My youngest DD is disabled and can't sit really still, so the toilet keeps flushing. The post it notes work really well.

We use Post-It notes too! My kids are terrified of toilets that flush automatically, and the post-its are much easier than trying to hold my hand over the sensor while I am holding a child afraid of falling in!

Have you tried sitting her on it backwards? Sometimes this works because she can put her feet up. :scratchin

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions about the traveling potty situation. I appreicate you all taking the time to respond! I did order the folding potty seat that comes with a bag, but it is padded, called the cushie traveller, from The Right Start online store. I did also buy the SpongeBob and Dora potty toppers from Target.com that you can line the toilet seat with. I figured it would keep our folding cushie traveller seat a lot cleaner. I'm also going to put some post it notes in the cushie traveller bag so we can block the automatic flush with that. I'm so glad I posted on this site. You all gave my additional ideas and information that I never thought about! Thanks a million!
