Has anyone stayed at the Travel Lodge Main Gate East? Looking for a place to sleep that allows pets...nothing fancy. Will take dog to WDW kennels during the day. Family of five...will be getting two rooms. Any input very much appreciated.

We have stayed there about 10 times for 10-14 days each time. It is fine. The hotel has interior corridors which I feel safer with. It is the largest Travelodge with 2 towers about 8 stories high. There is 24 hour front desk, and bell service (his name is Chuck). Also they provide free transportation to 3 of the 4 Disney parks. they are across the street from Old Town which we love. The rooms are huge compared to a lot of hotels. The hotel is not 4 star but it's ok.There are a lot of restaurants nearby and the shopping is good. The publix grocery and Walgreens drug stores are within walking distance. The lynx public transit will take you to mk. walmart osceola mall for $1.25 so you don't need a car. We only had 1 problem (quite a big problem but it worked out ok ) and it never stopped us from going back. Actually it put us on a first name basis with the manager. Our last 4 trips we haven't stayed there because All Star has such good rates we would rather stay on site but we would recomend the TLMGE and stay there again if they would reduce their prices.

Thank you so much for your reply. We will be arriving during x-mas break and are looking forward to the vacation. Was getting worried when no one posted a reply. Have a very merry Christmas!

You're welcome. Any other queations feel free to ask. I'll try to answer.

We just arrived home from our trip to WDW. Stayed at the Travel lodge Main gate East. Paid a one time fee of $25 for our miniature pinscher. Had requested two interconnecting rooms. Were given two adjacent rooms. We were on the sixth floor facing 192. Our little dog loved sitting in front of the "balcony" watching the traffic. The balcony was a one foot out cropping with a rail....and the sliding glass door didn't work in our room. In the other room the door did work. The room was rough around the edges...what I would refer to as a "lived in" look...but the beds were comfortable. Plenty of towels; Clean sheets and coffee supplies were replenished daily. I would stay there again. If I wanted something more than a place to sleep and didn't need a place for my dog, I would choose to stay on site. All in all the trip was wonderful...a whole week with my family...used the WDW kennels at Epcot; Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom. Liked the kennels at Animal Kingdom the best...our little dog stayed from about 8:00 AM until around 5:00 PM each day...He is fine...they are a kennel...not a luxury pet hotel. The kennel at Epcot is much larger than the others and seems more chaotic than the others. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks for posting. I'm glad you had a nice vacation. I'm uneasy recomending something, because people's tastes differ, but you had allready made your reservations so I didn't mind telling you what I could. I've never traveled with a pet, so your experience was informative.

I am glad to read your OK review. I just booked this thru hotwire and was very worried about it. I was looking for a last minute trip with my son, but at little cost. You reviews have reassured me. Old rooms I can live with, nasty rooms I can not!
