I know we have discussed this before and I highly reccomend Ouch but
DS and I would now not be covered under their policy for pneumonia or my torn calf muscle because it was less that 12 months before this trip!
I have been looking on the Internet and looked at Medibank private their pre existing conditions is only 90 days before anyone used them and had to claim?
I do not see that we will have any issues this trip but could never have anticipated what happened last trip!

have you tried Sure Save...we managed to get insurance for my DH who had a heart op in October last year, they covered him with a bit extra for our trip to Bali in March ad would have also covered him for our USA trip in Nov but we ended up using our credit card insurance

We use Suresave and we haven't had any problems with time frames for pre existing, even surgeries are only 6 - 8 weeks. DH has heart issues and they even insure him! They even insured DD's bone and muscle condition and her eye surgery from a few months ago.

They don't have a form anymore for preexisting, rather you ring and I believe it's a nurse or similar taking the info about the conditions into their database and they ask questions about your health, any meds, etc. One of the questions DH had for his heart was along the lines of "can you walk 200 meters without becoming short of breath?"

You will need to have handy all the meds you take, dates, etc. And it needs to be the person with the condition, or they could authorise you to do it for them (unless under 18 of course!)

Forgot to add, DH took out a yearly policy because he travels for work as well, added about $500 to the policy, but being yearly covers me and would cover DD if she had no pre existing.

:thumbsup2 thanks guys I did look at sure save but their policy was double what SCTI was going to charge to include our pre existing conditions and I also looked at insure n go and went through the process with theirs and they will cover us no extra charge because their is no ongoing treatment just not sure which way to go :confused3
I really prefer ouch apart from the fact that they took so long to pay the bills we were not out of pocket as they took responsibility for the bills with the hospital!
I guess the problem is you don't really know what a company is like till you need to make a claim!

i am having the same issues. our insurance magically went up even though we haven't claimed, so am shopping for new insurance.

looking at virgin insurance (for the additional points, it's not a bad option) but we also have to buy insurance as singles or duo/couples as we are all adults, which makes a lot of insurance options really expensive. some insurers (including insure n go) were able to offer a group rate, but that's still pretty $$.

wishing there was a cheap premium that gave really good cover and were painfree/hassle free to deal with for claims... hey, a girl can dream, right?? :badpc::badpc::badpc:

I really like Travel Insurance Direct. The extra $$ to get cover for pre existing conditions with recent hospital visits was very low for us - only Asthma and Arthritus but still very minimal extra cost. They were great to deal with when we had a claim and they said a few helpful rails before and after your travel, with another oh of the policy on case you lost your printout (who me?) and checking tat you ad no clams before the policy expired

Try 'One Cover'. We used to use them before we used our credit card insurance. We have made several claims and always been well informed and refunded in a timely manner. Cost was about $200 for our family of 5 without pre-existing conditions, for a travel period up to 28 days.

We now utilize the 'free' insurance on my Westpac Earth CC - it is underwritten by Zurich. We have only made one claim with them. Paid the $200 excess when my youngest DS was bitten by a monkey in Bali. Very smooth communication whilst we were o/seas and a swift refund after we actually made the claim back in Australia.
