Travel Insurance ?

My daughter is going to London and Ireland in the summer with a college group, I would like to get travel insurance just in case for some reason she has to cancel but is there anything else I need to look for? I haven't had a reason to buy it before this so I have no clue. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

This^^^. I always make sure to get a policy that covers medical, including transportation back to US if needed.

The beauty of insuremytrip.com is that there are dozens of plans from which to choose. Don't buy medical if she doesn't need it, she may be covered for foreign travel by the school policy or your own (if she is on your plan). You need to check her plan benefits. Also, I'm paranoid enough about my kids that we subscribe to MedJet Assist so they can be flown home in case of an extended hospitalization- even if it occurs in the US, at their college.

Otherwise, it's hard to know what to recommend. Does she having any reason why she might have to cancel (illness- her own or a family member's)? Is the tour operated by a company on solid financial footing, or could they default? Is she (or you) at risk of job loss? What part of the tour is nonrefundable? All of these things can be insured against, but that will cost you money.

The best thing to do it pick a very comprehensive (i.e. expensive) policy at insuremytrip and go over every feature, at the same time asking yourself "Does she really need this?" You can insure against everything from natural disasters to acts of war, only you know whether its worthwhile to you.

Good luck, she will have a blast! We just went to both countries last year and my kids enjoyed them both very much.

No known reason to cancel, just in case something does happen. The trip is headed by the Art Dept and she goes thru a company for all of the planning. I am just trying to get everything together that she needs and trying to make the right choices. Thanks
