Who do you use for your travel insurance?

Last time we went with the one Flight Centre provided and they were great (had to use it when we saw the Dr in USA) but they are quoting a little too high this time. So my travel agent said if we find a better quote bring it in and they will price match it.

We use http://www.1cover.com.au/ They don't include stuff like skiing and scuba diving in their standard policies but that suits us, we'd rather not pay for things we won't use. Their underwriters are Allianz. However we have never had to make a claim so I can't vouch for them personally. I did some reserach and found about the same number of positive/negative reviews for them as I found for the other big players. You always seem to be able to find lots of negative reviews about any insurance company :confused3

We're also covered by our credit card but they didn't have unlimited medical so I preferred to take out a separate policy.

We'll be using TID, they offer unlimited medical.

Current discount code is TIDTHANKS

Underwriters are LLOYDS in London.

We went with ouch this time I was goings to go with TID but they had heaps of complaints about people not getting there money back from them when they claim.

We've used covermore twice. We claimed through them the 1st time really easily. Didn't need to do a claim this time, but a friend of mine who just got her card skimmed while on holiday in Europe was also covered by covermore, and they wouldn't help her while over there :confused3

To me helping someone who's had all their money stolen while over seas would be one of the most basic covers... :sad2: She's putting a claim through them now she's home, but what a way to ruin a holiday

Fortunately, we have not made any claims. We have bought QBE but they are too expensive now. The last two times we have 1cover which, has been said, is underwritten by Allianz. This time we went direct to Allianz as it was cheaper, although, only slightly.
Travel Agents get a 50% commission so they can easily lower their rates to match yours if they want to. Depends on how greedy they are!

Last time we travelled we used world nomads found through the lonely planet website. They are also underwritten by lloyds of london. The policy was 98 each. This year we were going to pay only 180 for our family policy as we were returning customers and got a discount...

I've been using Ouch (QBE travel product) good price, good offering but I have never claimed. I found them when Choice Magazine recommended.

We've gone with Allianz directly this trip. They were about $60.00 cheaper than what the travel agent was offereing. Plus, I wanted more cover for the cameras and they had a higher coverage.
