Hi folks - long time reader first time poster!!

We have booked to take my two cousins to the big O on 30th Nov for 3 weeks. I tried to get them added on to my travel insurance policy through my bank account and they have quoted me £130!!!! Do any of you guys have any tips or recomendations - Kris will be 18 and Ash will be 16.

Thanks

Get their parents to take out a separate policy.

i insured eldest Ds when he went to Dominican Republic without us when he was 15 & it was no-where near anything like you've been quoted. Sorry can't remember exact amount.

On our last visit we took DS girlfriend with us. We had a signed letter from her parents giving us permission to take her & to authorise any medical treatment> I wouldn't take your cousins without such a letter.

M&S will insure, on a family policy, for 3 kids , still in full time education, until (I think) 23 years old :)

Not certain whether they have to direct family but could be worth trying :thumbsup2

You could try this company;

http://www.24drtravel.com/

Give them a ring.

We used it for an annual policy, because my partner does not live with us, as he works away...and we haven't got to the living together stage.

They are the only one I've found that don't seem bothered that all of your party are not all at the same address (which has always been a stumbling block with others). :thumbsup2

Incidentally their cover also extends to cruises at no extra charge - which not all insurers do.

If it's any help DS doesn't live with us and M&S were happy to insure at a different address too :thumbsup2

MSE (Money Saving Expert) recommend "Atlas Direct" for holiday Insurance.
I think its about £60 for annual worldwide cover for 2 adults and 2 kids. Make sure you tick the family option when you do the online qoute or it comes out to be much higher.

We have separate insurance for DS (14). Our bank account give us travel insurance and wanted to charge £43 to add him onto the policy.

Post Office will insure just him, even at 14, and it cost us £29. :teeth:

We use travelcover.com and cannot fault them, we have claimed once and it was a nice easy transaction, they do free child insurance and also do not pile the £££'s on for diabeties etc, they are really good value :thumbsup2
