Hi,

I am travelling to Disney in exactly one week and I’m struggling to get insurance……

As I am sure that you are aware following the recent terrorism in France, France has been now been placed as a “state of emergency” until February. I’m many cases this means that you can still buy insurance for France but as you have gone so willingly and knowing that it has been placed in “state of emergency” any claim on your insurance will be void and will be a complete waste of money purchasing!....this means that unless you call them and ask “will this policy cover me for the state of emergency” and they say that it will, your policy isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on!

I’m wondering has anybody managed to get insurance? and knows without a doubt that they are covered under the circumstances?

Please not that even if you have a yearly insurance it will be completely void in most cases if you choose to travel to France presently.

Went monday and come back today.

Forgot to get insurance.

Luckily there were no dramas.

Sorry that doesnt help you does it.

Not sure what to suggest.

I can only say that if you are in the EU get the EHIC card that enables you to get and pay for health care the same way as a resident in France does and then you can get the amount paid back from the NHS.

For everything else it sounds like it could be very difficult to be covered in case of an accident, lost baggage or anything else.

The SoE will be in place until Feb at least so for people travelling with medical conditions I guess they will be paying an even higher premium.

Have you been able to get any quotes at all ?

Why do you need travel insurance? Is this for a health reason or are you afraid of another terrorist attack delaying travel?

BTW, the best and least expensive time to buy travel insurance is at the time of payment for the trip.

I wouldn't want to travel abroad without insurance - although an EHIC card covers health care in the EU it only covers what the residents of the country you're visiting receive therefore some payment may be required which can then hopefully be claimed back on insurance. Apart from health you should also have cover for loss, damage, accident, delays, bad weather, strikes, cancellations (that's thinking off the top of my head, there may be more!)

OP - did you have any luck?
