Hi

I have always wanted to do DLP at Christmas. We are very close to Ebbsfleet so Eurostar is our best option of travelling. The one thing that stops me booking is that when we've had the real heavy snow; the Eurostar has been known not to run. Does anyone know of any travel insurer who would cover you if snow either prevented us getting to Ebbsfleet; or the Eurostar not running due to snow conditions?? Thanks:goodvibes

I haven't looked at my current policy so I don't know if it's still the case but I know M&S travel insurance always used to cover for situations like this.

Thanks unfortunately M&S won't cover me as I'm under investigation at the hospital; but it gives me hope that I could get it covered and we might be able to do a DLP Christmas!:goodvibes

I hope so - it's lovely at Christmas time.

I checked my policy this morning and it is covered so a shame you can't use them. Most of the insurance policies have copies of their policies online so you should be able to check them out. Hope you manage to find cover soon.

Most standard travel insurace excludes severe weather conditions these days. We went in December 2010, which saw the worst snow fall Paris has seen in years and the Eurostar still ran, but with an 1 hour and 30 mins delay due to speed restrictions on the lines.

Our bigest worry was being able to get from Cambridge to London, so we went down to London a day early so we knew we would be in London for the Eurostar departure. As they tend to cancel the Cambridge to London trains at a drop of a hat.

While we were at DLP they closed the airports around Paris due to the snow, and the motorways too. The DLP hotels were very busy arranging extra night stays for those guests stranded in the hotels whose flights were canceld or could not get to the airports due to the motorways being closed.

We looked into the higher rate insurance policies that will cover you for bad weather and for the cost it realy was not worth it. As Eurostar will put you on the next available train and DLP have been known to re-schedual your holiday dates it you take out their own insurance due to your trip being canceld due to the snow.

By the way the parks look lovely in the snow. Some of our pics from our 2010 trip can be found here.

Thanks Elaine. Will have a look at some insurance policies on-line; then all I've got to do is work on DH!:goodvibes

Thanks - I never thought of DLP potentially covering you if you take out their insurance policy.

Wow! DLP really is pretty in the snow!:goodvibes
