In November we are going to WDW... (WOOHOO!!!) Anyway, I had read that I-75 will be experiencing road construction... So we are considering taking 65 South out of Nashville down into Alabama and taking 230 to Dothan and on to Tallahassee... Is anyone familiar with this route/roads... are they decent? Will it eat up our time?
Thanks!

The route you are thinking about is fine. From 65 it's all divided 4-lane. That's the way I go to Grandma's.

If you think about it, wave as you go by Tallahassee. That'll be me waving back.

Thanks Tater bug!!!
I appreciate your quick response... We will definitely be waving... We will be the ones in the Red CR-V!!!

We lived in Alabama for many years, and I've traveled that road many, many times!!

To get from I-65 to U.S. 231 (the road to Dothan), you'll have to get onto I-85 briefly, then you'll have about 5 miles of stoplights, etc to get to U.S. 231.

U.S. 231 is a good road, recently refurbished and widened.

We didn't take 231 to I-10 to Tallahassee - we got off of 231 in Dothan and took U.S. 84 across a small corner of Georgia, then U.S. 27 into Tallahassee where we caught I-10 to take it over to I-75.

If you would like more detailed directions, please PM me.

LOL! Mom2em, I'll be in the white Cr-V!

LOL!! What a coincidence!!!

Let me add this suggestion:

When you turn on I-85, go past the 231 exit (Eastern Blvd) and take the next exit - Taylor Rd. and AUM (Auburn University Montgomery)

Turn right onto Taylor Rd and it will go all the way to 231 where you will turn left to go to Dothan and the panhandle. You will bypass a lot of Montgomery traffic that way.

Have a great trip!

Good point about the Taylor Road exit!! I never think about it, because we normally got on Taylor Road at Atlanta Highway, because we didn't come in from the I-85 side.

I think Taylor Road is exit #9 off of I-85.

Thanks!!
You never can tell what you are getting yourself into justing looking at an atlas... My DH is almost delirious about getting to avoid the Atlanta traffic :)

yeah, if you take ALAlan's advice you can save real time in Montgomery. Getting through any of the construction or just general traffic in Birmingham is the time killer.....:)

Actually, I work on Coliseum Blvd near the Northern Bypass!

Which side of Northern Blvd. is your home on?

We live in Spring Valley right now. (We're working on a lawsuit though, against our former mortgage co. that might leave us somewhere else, we hope:)).
I actually work at Carolyn P.O. over by ASU. Who knows...I may have waited on you sometime during the past sixteen years.:)(I spent four years 'floating' between P.O.s.)

Our house is in Vista View, on the right hand side of the road as you go down Coliseum towards North Blvd.

And I didn't realize that Jim Fyffe had passed away! :(

I've spent many a Saturday night working and listening to him on the radio!
