I'm flying in to LAX on Southwest at 1:55 on Saturday Sept 3rd for the Half Marathon on Sept. 4th. Packet Pickup at the DL hotel is until 5:00. Right now, I'm looking at waiting until I get to LAX to finalize my transportation. I'm wanting to go as inexpensively as possible.

Option 1: If I can make it to the Disneyland Express bus in time for the 2:30 or 3:00 bus take it. ~ $20 one way.

Option 2: If it's between 3:00 - 3:45 get a 1 day Car rental. ~$57 Hertz

Option 3: Take a Taxi ~ $100+

Unfortunately, It's not practical to to fly out on Friday. There are earlier flights on Saturday but they have tight layovers. My current flight has 1 stop but no plane change.

Am I cutting things too close? My original plan was to check my luggage (except for my race gear), but I could fit everything in carry on and do laundry half way through the vacation.

Also, Since Southwest is in terminal 1. is it practical to cut across the parking garages for terminal 7 to the shuttle up there if I miss it by just a few minutes. I'm traveling solo and if I do Carry-on I'll have a duffel bag and possibly a small personal it

Thanks.

I would do an earlier flight. I've found that SW, when it has tight layovers, actually has the next gate very close to the first one. I've never had to run across the airport for a SW connection, usually the gate is *right there*.

We've walked from a higher numbered terminal to #1, so we're first on the plane, but I'm not sure I would chance doing it the other way. And I'm not sure that crossing through a garage would be the best way to do it anyway, I would think that just rushing along the walkway would be best...it's all sort of continuous and closer than you think to each terminal stop.

But I wouldn't want to do any of that the day before a running race! What if you injure yourself? I'd take a much earlier flight instead.

Ok - tight but doable... I regularly walk between gate 1 and 7 - ten minutes briskly. You can cut through the car park but you can lose time checking directions!

But you def should only bring carry on.

I would then shoot for the car option. That way you control the timing... $30 doesn't matter much if you spend all the rest and miss the race.

Finally - get a mobile /email for the packet organisers. I'm sure you 've thought of this, but it might be possible to arrange a different pick up, especially if you get stuck.

Good luck.
