Hello DISrs. I need some advice about making our ADR at Boma. We are planning to be in AK on the afternoon that we have a rez at Boma. If the rez is at 7p.m., what time do we need to leave the park in order to catch the bus to AKL?

Would depend on when AK closes.

AKL is very close to AK so it isn't so much as distance that you need to account for.
But if you are using the bus system then you want to add additional time to your travel.

If closing is 5pm then I would hang back a bit and window shop. This would help you miss the masses exiting the park. And I would leave closer to 6pm. This gives you plenty of time to catch a bus and head over. It seems over kill, but again if plenty of people are still leaving AK it could take 1-2 buses to get on one.

If closing is at 6pm, then I would leave around 5:30. The buses WILL be packed and it will take you longer to get one.

Besides, it is best to have an extra 1/2 hour or so to check out the resort/gift shop. And if you are early enough you can site see some animals.

Have a great trip.

Right now the hours posted are that AK closes at 6. I am wondering if I should try to change the rez to 7:30? If I did, and we waited to try to get the bus until after 6:30, would we have time? If I can't change it, I'll just plan on herding us out at 5:30. I am hoping I don't have to though, since we were planning on only getting to the park at 2 or 3.

It takes just a few minutes to get from AK to AKL. Be sure to get off at Jambo House, which is the second stop (at least currently). If you left the park at 6:30 for a 7pm ADR you might be cutting a wee bit close. AKL is always worth checking out. Our fav resort!

We are driving to Boma from AK for a 5:15 ADR when the park closes at 5. What time should we leave?

I can't wait to see AKL - we've never seen it! I've heard the pool area is pretty amazing. When my kids get a look at it they're going to want to stay there for sure!

Thanks for the advice, BoomNLeon! We will be staying at the AKL for the last two nights of our trip, starting with the night of this ADR. I am very excited to finally get a first-hand look at the resort! I am glad to hear that the bus trip is short. I am going to try to move our reservation to 7:30, since that would give us plenty of time and we wouldn't have to feel rushed.

cheryterese - I would leave AK shortly after Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade (along with everyone else!). The parade starts at 3:45 and rolls up around 4:15ish. I would then head on over. It will only take you about 5-7 minutes to drive it. Allow time for parking, etc. Boma is wonderful!

DizFan13 - it is my pleasure! So you are staying at AKL - fantastic. Try and allow time to go to the Arusha Rock fire pit for African Folk Tales and do not miss the night vision animal watching near Uzima Springs. It is just neat to do. AKL is our favorite resort - it is isolated (LOVE IT!), unique (animals, animals and animals!) and has tremendous theming and cast. Check out the www.AKLResort.com for more great stuff.
