Hi,

I currently booked to be at disney Aug 14. My travel agent just got my documents today( I booked through one of the TA on the net). She said that since we are close to the date, her office is going to send our documents to the resort instead, just in case customs might delay the deliver. She resides in the States and I am in Canada. There is still a week and some days left, wouldn't it make it on time to my house, if it was sent through express mail, next day service? Has anyone had this happen to them before. I still haven't recieved my magical express tags either, if she booked it for me, does it also go through to her first? I am I suppose to get some sort of ressie number for either magical express or the resort reservation? Please help. I mean what if I go too the resort and they don't have the package either? Can you give me some advice?!

First off, the package documents really don't need to be presented when you check in. You just give the CM at check in your name and ID and they will be able to pull up your information in the computer.

As far as ME goes, yes the documents would be sent to your TA first. If you don't have them you can just go to the ME counter at the airport. They should have all your info. You can collect your own luggage and take it on the bus, or you can give the ME folks a VERY good description of your luggage (make sure it has your personal information on it) and they will collect the bags and ship them to the resort.

Definitely call your TA and have her overnight your documents!

If your using ME you need your tags on your luggage when you check them in on your flight going. Besides, what if there is some mistake somewhere and now you didn't have your documents to correct or confirm anything.

I would not worry about having documents at all. You can do everything without them with no problems. ask if she can send you the fax Disney send them by email

I sent a packet in an a regular sized business envelope that contained some silly little things for my girlfriends kids (she lives in Canada) it took 3 weeks for it to get there!

At the risk of being stupid --- couldn't she fax a copy to you in addition to sending them to your resort?

Frankly - I reside in Canada - and I wouldn't count on them getting here in that window - even expressed. Customs can hold up any shipment it likes for days on end.. It doesn't always happen, but you know if you want it tomorrow, yours will be the shipment sidetracked for 'closer inspection'.

I agree....ask her to fax a copy to you and have the documents sent to the resort. My SIL lives in Ontario and it takes 3 to 4 weeks if I send her anything in any kind of envelope other than the standard letter sized kind.

It's crazy...why are pictures of my kids something that have to be hung up in customs for 3 weeks and then signed for upon delivery lol!

:thumbsup2 to getting the fax or e-mail instead of the actual physical documents. You don't need the pieces of paper, you need the numbers (confirmation numbers, phone numbers, dates....) that link you up to that reservation in the computer. If you don't have a fax to receive the docs, then have your travel agent scan them and send it as a JPeg image to your e-mail address.

I've never had a customs problem with envelopes/packages where the sender has indicated on the customs form that the contents are DOCUMENTS with no value (I know, they have value to you, but for customs purposes the documents are just pieces of paper, not financial instruments). But it's kind of a waste of money to Fedex or DHL or express-post them to Canada when you don't really need the documents. Bummer, though, as the documents are mostly valuable for gloating on your trip before it happens!

Just to play devils advocate here. Suppose you arrived on a day like today when the Disney computer system is DOWN, now I don't know if it is just the Web portion that is down or if all the poor people checking in or out today also are facing a down system.
But suppose it is the second case. if you are relying solely on numbers in the computer you are out of luck. AT LEAST if you have the written, faxed or printed emailed documents you have something with which to check in.

I'm a referring travel agent and I'd suggest that you call your TA and have them fax or email (so that you can print out) your documents to you. This way you have all the numbers with you at check in. It'll also give you peace of mind. I'd also have them send originals to the resort.:thumbsup2
