Phoned last night to book my September holiday. I was quoted £1500 for two adults, car + hotel on Monday.

They had no details of my quote (surprise surprise!) and when they requoted last night it had gone up to £1680!

The woman on the end of the phone said it was because the war had ended and that all flights had gone up.

Told her that there price was same as Virgin and rang off!

That's life, it's their choice if they want to put the prices up & if you don't book they can't guarantee the price until you do so. When I have used them before they have never held a quote on file for me.Incidentally they are an excellent company IMHO

It is not just TCD that are doing this.

Our friends have been ringing around for flights for a couple of weeks and the same thing has happend to them. They were quoted £200 more than their original quote.:(

I haven't used them yet but may be using them this year, personally compared to virgins prices they seem to be reasonable, i was quoted 2,800 for 2 adults and one child in august at one point, then with TCD i got quoted 2,200,so thats £600 off.

So i think it depends really.

Beth,

We got a holiday for £2300, 2 adults, I4 car fully inclusive etc, sunshine first upgrade, 4* acc on I-drive. 14 nights. The TCD price was £200 more than we paid last year but is still a good price, travel in early October.

Virgin were same price for 3*, without flight upgrade & I'm a freq virgin & the price included a 10% discount. Virgin have since reduced their price but I still want a flight upgrade & their Prem Ec makes the 3* price about £2600 & their prem ec is not a patch on TCD's sunshine first. And virgin are not a patch on TCD for Florida IMHO.

They have indeed put prices up.
Dp rang earlier (our online quote was £2200) she then re-quoted us due to prices going up and there £459 flight offer had ended and its now £2540, she explained something but wasnt rather there if you get me?
As when they quoted us online, they was charging dd whos 3 FULL ADULT PRICE,now am i wrong but if she is 3 she isnt an adult is she? she said this was because they had given us a offer on flights as it was but thats pathetic isnt it charging a child full paying adult price, thats the reason we rang then she said oh prices have risen, needless to say dp is not impressed.lol.

So there goes tcd, we are annoyed as we if we choose to go this year need to go before september as dd turns 4 and she starts big school in the beginning of sept, so money isnt tight we can afford £2000+ and a bit over (only a hundred or so),any ideas?
We know august is peak season, but its the only month we can really budget for as the months are flying by?

Beth
*Gutted* :(

Ask Virgin what discount they will give you if you book it now. I did in the past & got 10-15% off, it's always worth a try, the worst they can do is say you get no discount!

I have been to Florida with TCD twice before and had no problems but shocked by their recent price increase.

One thing to watch out for is the admin fees they add. Last year I paid £20 per person admin fee, £15 Ticket Fee per person & 2% Credit Card Charge. Soon adds up if you have four or more people in your group.

They now charge £340 to insure the smallest car too!!

Yup they added all the admin fees etc but there insurance they quoted for us on a economy car was £204 a week. £408 in total :(

Not sure I'm following this very well other than TCD have started putting up their prices :(

Beth have you considered organising your holiday independantly? It may work out cheaper than a package, a 3 yr old should not be paying adult prices for flights!

With all the flight, car hire and villa rental places online and so many hotel chains (if you prefer hotels) that can be booked online too you may find it's cheaper. Or what about those bon voyage people that have been recommended on these boards?

If you could get your flights sorted out you an work it out from there. Who's going and for how long?

You're always up against it travelling in August...but hang in there and don't give up. Could you go in June or July? I've seen villa offers for June for sure.

Good luck!

JUST LIKE TO ADD A COMMENT ABOUT TCD.
I HAVE NEVER BOOKED WITH THEM BEFORE AND WHEN I MADE MY BOOKING FOR NEXT JANUARY, I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO PAY £70 PP DEPOSIT AND THE REST OF THE BALANCE WAS DUE 10 WEEKS BEFORE GOING, NOTHING UNUSUAL AND I WAS MORE THAN HAPPY WITH THAT.
I WAS LED TO BELEIVE THAT THEIR LOW DEPOSIT WAS £10 PP AND THOUGHT I WAS PAYING THE FULL DEPOSIT.
ANYWAY, 2 WEEKS AGO, I HAD AN INVOICE ASKING FOR A DEPOSIT OF £770 AND THEN IT WAS PRINTED THAT I HAD ALREADY PAID £770 SO I IGNORED IT.
YESTERDAY I RECEIVED A LETTER DEMANDING THE MONEY OR ELSE THEY WOULD TAKE STEPS TO RETREIVE THE FULL BALANCE.
WHAT A CHEEK, THOUGHT I AND PROMPTLY RANG THEM FOR AN EXPLAINATION, ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THE DEPOSIT IS £140 PP AND NOT £70PP.
THE GIRL ON THE PHONE WAS VERY APOLIGETIC FOR THE MISINFORMATION AND WANTED TO KNOW THE NAME OF THE PERSON WHO TOLD ME THIS BUT I COULD NOT REMEMBER.
SHE DEFINITLY TOLD ME THE WRONG DEPOSIT DETAILS AS WE HAD A CONVERSATION ABOUT HOW GOOD THE DEPOSIT WAS AS I AM USED TO PAYING £100+PP
I PAID THE REST OF THE DEPOSIT OVER THE PHONE THERE AND THEN ( DEBIT CARD- I WON'T PAY CC CHARGES).
IT WAS A GOOD JOB I DID NOT BOTHER TO ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS AS I WAS A WHISKER AWAY FROM LOSING NOT ONLY MY MONEY BUT MY HOLIDAY AS WELL!!
LOOKING AT THE WAY THE INVOICE WAS WORDED I REALLY THOUGHT THAT I HAD PAID THE PROPER DEPOSIT, SO BEWARE OF THIS. LOW DEPOSIT OF £10PP IS EUROPEAN HOLS AND £70 IS HALF THE DEPOSIT FOR FLORIDA.
I DON'T KNOW, MAYBE I'M A SANDWICH SHORT OF A PICNIC OR SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!

Have to disagree with Daywalker I'm afraid! (although I'm glad others have had better luck with TCD)
Last year we went with them, booked a 3 bed villa etc, and when we got there they had requested from the management company a 3 bed apartment (third floor, very convenient with 2 toddlers!). 2 days of our holiday was ruined whilst the management company and TCD argued about whose fault it was, finally sorted on day 3, following £30+ of mobile calls around the planet.
Suffice to say, we will never travel with TCD, whether they are the cheapest or not, I'd sooner do things independently.

Seems a rather mixed bag of experience here...I've always arranged all our trips independantly and wouldn't have it any other way - although I appreciate packages are the way to go for many people. Once you do your own thing, though, you soon realise why it's the best option!

Fair enough matty624, I can't argue, if you had problems you had problems and I am sorry it spoilt the start of your hols. All I will say is I was a big doubter before I traveled with them (the price appeared to be too good to be true for what we got). TCD saw my comments on other message boards and tracked me down to ask me what my doubts were, now, that is impressive!!! I finally travelled & was very happy. I accept that not everyone will be happy though, especially if you feel you have been mis-informed (hey, it could have been worse, the Iraqi Information Minister could have told you that you were staying in 5* accomodation for a fiver a night ;) ;))
With regards to the early booking offer, we were offered £10 pp deposit & then something like £120 pp full deposit payable in Jan (I can't remember the exact details), I just choose to pay it all at the time as I could not be doing with hassle of paying it later!

It all seems a little expensive to me, and as for charging a 3 year old an Adult rate!!!!
We booked through BA, less than £1000 for 4 of us, £700 for a 3 bed room house £266 for the car, less than £2000 total and my kids get treated as kids.

WELL, I'M NOT GOING WITH TCD UNYIL NEXT YEAR AND ALTHOUGH I HAD A BIT OF A MISUNDERSTANDING ABOUT DEPOSIT PRICES, I STILL THINK THAT WE HAD AN EXCELLENT DEAL FOR OUR FLYDRIVE.
WE TOO ARE DOING OUR TRIP INDEPENDANT.
WE FOUND THEIR CAR HIRE PRICES A LITTLE HIGH ( £994 FOR 2 WEEKS FOR A 15 SEATER ALL INCLUSIVE) COULD HAVE GOT IT FOR £200 LESS BUT THE AIR PRICES WERE SO MUCH CHEAPER AND IT STILL WORKED OUT BETTER TO DO THE FLYDRIVE.
OUR WHOLE TRIP FOR 9 ADULTS, 2 KIDS AND AN INFANT WITH ALL THE PARK TICKETS ETC IS COSTING US £6,000 FOR 2 WEEKS.
WOULDN'T USE A TRAVEL AGENT AGAIN.
LIN

Just to confirm that TCD prices are going up.

I booked for the 5 of us last Sunday & no they didn't have any details of the phone quote I' d been given on Friday. We decided to book with them anyway, just flights.

Then i rang them back on Thurs to add 1 more person to our booking, we're now taking eldest DS 's girlfriend & the price of the flight had gone up £80.

It all sounds funny when they raise the prices sharply and customers previous quotes go missing from just a few days back!

Well it will be interesting to see if they sell all their seats at the new prices.

Last year they were giving away flights come the end of August/September (Like £99 for 14 nights fly drive)
