Travel city direct??

Is there anything specific you need to know?
They are a trading arm of Virgin holidays, they bought the name, website and database then TCD collapsed in 2008 so now you are buying a Virgin package with full ABTA & ATOL protection.

yes have booked with them, so far so good, like wayne says they are owned by Virgin now so we are flying with Virgin, we booked june 2009 & have also booked Disney tickets with them too, have you found a holiday that you like?

Part of Virgin as others have said so they should be good to deal with, I was going to book with them just a few weeks ago but found the same package abit cheaper if i booked it DIY. They do have reasonable prices though.

wayne can i just ask does this mean that TCD couldnt really go bankrupt again? i'm nervous booking such an important holiday without certainty but WDW are about £500 more and virgin holidays are lots more.

currently on the phone to WDW who are trying to tell me that virgin economy have sold out for my dates (15th aug 11) even though they're still on virgin site! On hold whilst she tries to figure it out. to be fair only offer PE seats on WDW website for my dates too :(

Any company can go bankrupt but they are as safe as you can get in the travel industry. Bonded by ABTA & ATOL.
Have you priced up doing flight only and just booking hotel/tix thru Disney? Just done it for relatives and saved £600 compared to TCD and £1000 compared to VHols. Packages are very expensive in August.

I won't use them out of priciple. We used them for our Disney wedding 2 years ago. They went bust and we lost a wedding, cruise, hotel bookings and experience days. Within a few weeks we had to book and pay for it all again. We are currently still waiting for the money back, it was atol protected. I now go through Virgin or Disney for this reason. They may cost slightly more but i no i will get my holiday in the end.

I fully understand why you were upset with TCD but paying more to use Virgin over TCD would make no difference to a claim if the company failed.
They are exactly the same company, same owners and right down to the same ATOL membership(Air Travel Organiser's Licence number 2358) & ABTA (VO243)
Booking thru Virgin gives you absolutely no more protection than TCD, your principles are costing you money and making VH more profit unfortunately.

Are TCD usualy cheaper than virgin?

Just done a dummy booking for what I booked last night for relatives.

2 weeks OKW Economy out, PE return, 3 x 14 day tix & free DDP. No car

VH £ 6,452.95
TCD £ 5,943.67
Booked DIY £4,810.67

All exactly same flights, hotel & tix. Diff between DIY & VH £1,642:eek:

Another thing I noticed, economy was being offered for return on TCD but not for VH. so they have different availabilty on the 2 sites.

I have booked flights direct with Virgin Atlantic but I also use Expedia, Netflights, Opodo, Orbitz, anyone who will give me the best price.
Hotel as we are going for the free dining offer choices are limited, it will have to be either Disney.co.uk or Complete Orlando, if we do room only then the list of room suppliers is almost endless, Monarch have been very competative recently plus 5% cashback with Quidco.
