Am I allowed to ask this? If not, just slap my hand.

I'd like to get serious about a cruise for the family. I've had a heck of a time trying to find the rooms I'd prefer. I can't imagine the new May 2017 is all sold out, I just can't pick the right combinations to get the right rooms to show available. Anyway, I think maybe a travel agent can help me. Are the deals going to be much different between them? Just OBC? Is dreams unlimited my best bet? What other options are out there? Costco just says a Costco cash card. Which wouldn't be bad, but I think we'd make better use out of an OBC.

(Family of 8, so I'm looking for joining veranda rooms)

Not sure what the hand slapping policy is, but since this site is hosted by Dreams Unlimited I am sure they probably aren't ok with anyone mentioning other TAs :)

With that said, I used a TA for our cruise and I don't normally use TAs. The prices were the same as booking yourself, but the OBC is free money that I know I will use on our cruise. You have nothing to lose to check with one and see if they can help. You're not obligated for anything just to get a quote and you can explain your challenge and see if they can assist.

In reality, you can mention other TAs. But you need to post the full URL when mentioning them. Some sites are banned and the URL will be *******'d out. Others are permissible. You don't know for sure until you try posting it.

if your talking about the fantasy i thought it was going in for dry dock may of 2017. that could be why you can't find anything and a t.a. will not be able to help you with that. hope you find a sailing that fits and have a great cruise.

I found a cruise, just couldn't get two connecting rooms to show available at the same time. They were when I was choosing room 1, but then not when I was choosing room 2. It was weird.

Did you try just typing in the cabin # for Room 2 that was showing as available when you selected Room 1? The booking site only shows you a few cabin #'s available (what the computer thinks is the best available, once you selected the first cabin, the computer might think it has better choices for you.) If that still doesn't work, are you putting different # of people in each cabin? It may be a life boat situation. I'd look at deck plans and select connecting cabins further forward or aft and type in the choices to see if they are available.

I know they were only just released but it might be due to lifeboat capacity. It seems weird that it would happen this early though.

Maybe it's a lifeboat issue. I can't imagine they'd be that full though. Most likely they aren't letting me see all available then? I don't see a place to enter a number, I'm on my iPad though. Will have to try the computer. Or else I'm just going to have a TA do it.

If you call DCL directly, they will be able to tell you which connecting staterooms are still available. This is what a TA would be doing as well. The website is a bit wonky. My advice, have the deck plan open on your computer when you call and price out the categories you are interested in so you'll have a good idea of costs. Calling is the quickest way to see what connecting rooms are available.

Use your computer, definitely.
