I booked with an online Disney travel agent and I am not thrilled with my choice. I am not unhappy with them, but since we are Disney veterans we know more than most. I want a TA that knows more than me. And is proactive at communicating with us. Everyone is pretty much the same price. Some offer perks. AAA offers better parking. I am afraid to cancel because I feel bad. Thoughts????

Don't expect any travel agent to know more than you do if you have been there and read the DIS regularly!!! I haven't found one. The last time we used AAA-just to get the parking pass and a few freebies our branch was giving at the time- whenever I went in to pay something or pick up something I HELPED other people in the office trying to book a trip, I corrected the agent more than a handful of times and some pretty big things.

I just did all my own planning including ADR's, airfare and only had the agent do the one or 2 things they had to do to get the AAA stuff and discounts.

I think the days of travel agents except for the very rich, and then they usually have assistants that could do it also, are pretty much over.

I am a Disney certified travel agent, so this is my opinion on it. If you are not comfortable, then cancel. Either find another agent or book yourself. DON'T feel bad!!! We work on commission. If you work on commission then you should know what you are talking about. I don't book certain types of vacations (like cruises) because I have never been on one and really don't have any interest. I just refer them to a coworker. Do I lose commission? yes. BUT the client will get better info and have a better vacation. At the end of the day, it is all about the client.
Personally, I would cancel if I was uncomfortable with my travel agent.

My clients know that they can expect personalized service, no matter what level of Disney knowledge they possess. I book people who are Disney rookies and need their hands held through every step of trip planning. I book Disney experts who come to me with their trip already planned in their minds (or sometimes already booked) and simply want me to do the grunt work of making ADRs, etc.

If your agent isn't able to adapt to your needs, you need a new agent. I'm sure that I or any of the other agents who have answered you know that they could do a better job for you, but you can't move your trip over to anyone else if it was booked by an agent. You'd have to cancel and start again--which means you'll lose discounts you had if the offer is not still within the booking window.

Hope this all works out for the best for you! :wave2:
