Visiting for the first time since 2011 and never heard of Trattoria on the Boardwalk. Would love to hear your good and bad experiences. Thanks!

I asked the same thing a few days ago and got a lot of mixed reviews. Personally I don't think Disney does Italian well, we had some decent Italian at wolf gang puck express, the sauce was nice, the kids really liked it. A lot of people complained of slow service @ trattoria (servers have to serve, bus, wait, and set tables so it slows it down). But I cannot speak from experience. If I do this we may do breakfast, the menu looks pretty good (espresso mascarpone waffles!) because we will be staying @ BC so its close enough, but wouldn't go out of my way if I were staying else where.

We ate there last summer and had good food and service. We did have an ADR at 5 so it was a little early, not full in the restaurant yet. We will go back next time down there. We ordered Chicken Parm, Pork Chop, Eggplant entrees for dinner.

I just ate there Saturday night. Food was ok and service was ok and then ehh. Best part was eating outside on the patio and seeing the 10pm wishes fireworks from MK. You can see them above the windmill at Yacht and Beach.

We had a great experience in August. Our service was excellent and the food was delicious. Guess it is hit or miss. But we are going again this summer because we were that impressed.
I like to give new restaurants a chance to work thru all their kinks before going!

DH & I ate there last year & thoroughly enjoyed it, the food & service were great. We've also eaten b'fast there a few times & that's really good as well. We'll be back at WDW in July & are planning to eat there again.

We are there in April and it was GREAT! I'm shocked about the feedback here - we almost went twice! Our server - Todd - was fantastic - he was super attentive to us and our tired/cranky kids - he gave them lizard toys, brought them to see their desert being made, and just really cheered them up.

We all really enjoyed the food with one exception - my 9 year old was not thrilled with the side dish options to go with his kids steak (fingerling potatoes and green beans). My daughter ended up eating his green beans and he ate some of her pizza so it all worked out but the side dishes were limiting for my picky one. It's a scratch kitchen and everything was done exactly to our liking!!

We will definitely go back! It's probably our favorite of the Italian restaurants at Disney. We tend to go to Mama Melrose often but that's mainly out of convenience - not because the food is good. We would put the food and service at Trattoria Al Forni ahead of Mama Melrose, but the ability to eat in a park quickly is definitely giving the edge to mama Melrose..

We ate there last month. Our server wasn't great, but I'm used to that at Disney (unfortunately), and the kids menu could have been better (we'll order an adult meal for them to split next time). DH had the chicken parm and really liked it... until he tried my short rib bolognese and fell in love :D I only finished half my meal (it was huge), but DH and the (picky) kids helped clear my plate, haha. We are big foodies and usually avoid Italian for fear of Olive Garden-esque food, but we were impressed. Now, I dream of short rib bolognese at least once a week and am already trying to figure out how to recreate it!
