We will staying at BCV in a couple of weeks for the first time. Since we will only be there for 5 nights we are only given trash and towel service. Is it customary to leave a tip for this? If so, how much? Thanks for any infor you can give.

Opinions really vary on this. Disney itself does not consider housekeeping positions as "tipped positions".

We do not tip for T & T service. IMHO, it takes less very little time/effort to change out the towels and take out the trash bags.

We do leave a tip at the end of our stay for the Housekeeper(s) who clean the unit after we leave. It's usually $10-$15, depending on the size (1 bedroom or 2 bedroom).

I'm sure others will respond with their opinions.

Enjoy your stay.

I usually leave $2 for 2 people. I don't know if it's because of the tip, but we usually get some small towel creations and extra bath towels.

I really consider myself a good tipper, and you ask a really good question. When I stayed at BCV I left nothing, or as they say in Disney speak, "Zippity Doo Dah." I frankly never even thought of it. Although I have a great sensitivity for people who live on tips, I don't think of these folks as being tip dependent. Boy great question. I will be looking carefully at other answers and may take another look at this is the future.

I leave $1.00 per person staying in the room. I also bundle and tie all the trash and leave all the towels in the bathtub to make things a bit easier on the maid.

I don't even know if we tipped when we stayed at HH. I'll have to ask DW if we did, I guess. I'll try to remember from now on.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

We always tip on T & T day...usually a few dollars. It depends on the size of the villa we're in. It's such a small amount of money that I certainly don't miss it, and I doubt that the housekeeper will jump for joy over it, but it just seems like a nice thing to do. Maybe the housekeeper will smile and have a happy moment during what must be a rather unpleasant job.

WDW considers housekeeping to be a non tipped position. Of course one is entitled to tip if they choose but it is not expected. Unless they do something special for you or you leave the room extra messy, I don't think you should worry about it. We do strip the beds and pile the sheets then towels near the door when we leave. We load the DW but don't start it as they will just was them again if we did.

I have gotten in the habit of tipping $5.00 on T & T day. While I realize that it may not be expected, I also remember my early employment days when I was very grateful for tips. So if I can make someone's day even a little bit, that's a good thing. :D

In a couple cases, I got a nice handwritten little thank you card and some cool "washcloth sculptures." ;)

I used to tip at the end of the stay. I now usually tip on T&T, housekeeping and end of stay. The amount depends on the size of the unit and the length of stay. I would leave $3-$5 for a T&T day in a studio.

I also tip when I stay in a hotel, so I guess it's a habit with me. Opinons vary widely on tipping so this is MHO.

I tip on trash and towel day also approximately $1 pp in the room. I feel it is a small gratuity that shows appreciation for a job well done. I also tip upon vacating the resort.

If it makes you feel good go ahead, I am a excellent tipper, but would never tip the T & T people. Why not tip the people cleaning the sidewalks outside., or how about the pool guy??

This is a little different. They are cleaning up after you in your room. The people at the pool or the sidewalk are not, unless you are the one throwing the trash out there.

Dean, You load your DW (Dear wife), but don't start her? hehehe:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:
DW in this case means Dishwasher. Some could say they were the same but not me.

Thanks for the info everyone. I will leave a tip on trash and towel day and hopefully I'll get some extra towels for it! Ha Ha!

We always tip. God bless these women; it's a tough job. I left $7 last week and was then upset that I had the days wrong. I thought it was T&T and it was a full cleaning. For 6 people in a 2-bedroom I would have left more.

I suspect these people work very hard and don't make much money. It makes me happy to leave them a tip! I am so blessed to have DVC and be on vacation -- with what Disney charges for everything, what's an extra $10 or $20 for someone who could poabably use it?

Just my 2 cents...

I usually do not tip the maids , but we had five kids with us in Dec. and who ever got the job of cleaning earn ed the $10 I left.
