Well, here we are at POR-FQ and it looks like the parks are all going to be closed tommorow. That sucks, and we *may* be trapped in our rooms for up to 30 hours.

Well I paid for the parks for all the time im here, and I dont get access on one day. Will disney refund for that day? or am I just out of luck? This is kinda runining my disney glow, luckily we brought enough food and books to get us through this hard time.

Its rainy and windy here. And im trapped in my room with the DH! oh no! 30 hours of him may undo all the good of my vacation! LOL

I'm sorry about the storm and the change in plans for you. We're due to arrive Tuesday morning and am glad that our times seems to be good even though the storm could hang around for longer and mess us up.

Having said that, as much as I wish your vacation was going better and as much as I hope ours is wonderful, there are many people who lives are being affected by this storm and are having their homes damaged or destroyed. We can go home after our vacation, but they are stuck there trying to deal with home repairs, emergency living, etc. Very sad and it is an extremely trying hurrican season for FL this year.

What type of park passes do you have? WDW will probably give you hopper tickets to use any time in the next 20 years, if you have the UPH's. You might need to ask for these, though.

Good luck in your room!

T&B

Although I find your post a little insensitive to those of us that are actually Florida residents and Disney CM's I will still answer your question.

They may not "refund" the park ticket, monitarily but... they will either offer you the refund or they will issue you a one day park ticket that does not expire. Just make sure to stop by the front desk and ask.

I just read on the WDW website that the parks are all closed tomorrow because of the weather coming your way. Well I wouldn't like the feeling of being trapped but if I was trapped, man oh man would I love it to be there.... as long as they could feed me that is!!!

Gosh, it's too bad when you heard about the hurricane, you didn't make plans to leave, knowing how unhappy you would be trapped in your room. Are you suggesting this is Disney's fault and that dispite the damage to you and the park that could happen, that they should open the park anyway? Even if it meant people could be killed?
I am finding your whole attitude very hard to take. If we had not cancelled when Francis came, I'd like to think I'd be a little more understanding, and be thinking of what the poor CM's who still have to work are feeling, not knowing what is going to happen to their families and homes. Thirty hours isn't so bad. You have yoru hubby, the TV, a apparently the internet. I assume you stocked up on essentils like food and water, knowing this hurricane was coming.

Prayers to all of you who live in Florida. I'm so sorry you are being hit once again.

Well, today is my birthday and we have an uninvited guest to my celebration at WDW.... All my plans are ruined.... but I'm trying to keep a positive attitude. At least I was able to have a very nice dinner with my family at Ohana's (my family lives in Orlando and they are as ready as they can be... with plywood on all windows and prepared for the worse, again). They were also able to repair the damage they received during Charley and Frances, so thank God for that. We left our home in South Florida with the shutters up and hope everything is ok when we get back (I don't think anything major will happen down south... I hope).

My heart goes out to all central Floridians who, after Jeanne, will have been hammered by THREE hurricanes in 6 weeks... The CM's here have been great considering what they are facing. At POFQ, we saw Minnie, Mickey, Goofy and Pluto in the lobby, taking pictures and just making everyone feel good. They are all doing a wonderful job at maintaining everyone calm and preparing for the storm, while they face damage or worse in their own homes. I actually feel quite safe thanks to their handling of the situation.

I will continue to pray for the safety of all of us in Florida and I hope you all join me...

Edited to "play nice on the boards."

My thoughts are with the CM's and FL residents.

I'm sure that Elfbo didn't intend to sound insensitive to the folks down in Florida who have been affected by these hurricanes, or folks who have been forced to cancel trips.

Please remember to play nice on the boards :)

Add me to the list of guests Hangin' Out for the storm. It's quiet at CBR now, some wind but very little rain. People are walking around, and waiting it out. They gave us plenty of warning about being marooned in our rooms, so those who paid attention are prepared. The CM's are the ones who really deserve your prayers. They were all here today giving it their all. Then they had to go home and do the best they can to keep their homes together. We are in fortresses. I can't hear the storm at all. Florida home insurance has a storm rider which sets the deductible at 2 percent of total value, so most of them are out quite a bit of money for repairs. We'll all get out of here soon enough, and return to our intact little lives. Leave a bigger tip with the money you save tomorrow...................

We were at dinner at Ohanna's tonite too!!! That was yummy! We at about 5:00 this evening then caught the monorail and buses to All-Stars right before the parks closed.

We're here at All-Stars.

They have been very helpful regarding the storm, but we have had some other problems with our rooms that had nothing to do with the hurricance, mainly they only had one accesible room available for us when we had reserved two accessible rooms. They finally found us a second accessible room.

Believe it or not the fridges in BOTH of the accessible rooms were broken and we didn't realize it until we got back from the parks this evening and all of the cold food that we had bought on our grocery stop was ruined and the luggage folks misplaced a piece of our luggage and took a long time to find it. They did comp us for the ruined food and replace the fridgies, but it was frustrating. I hated complaining at all with all they have to deal with tonite, but as these problems had nothing to do with the hurricane, our spouses insisted, so they handled it all.

Maybe it has something to do with how the Contemporary is build, but the wind sounds really strong here. I have read some postings from WDW guest saying they cant hear the wind. I remember reading some from guests during Frances at AKL who said they did not hear a thing either. We are hearing the wind just fine. However, if you look in the parking lot, the small trees (and I mean really small trees right in the parking lot) are blowing, but seem to be holding up. Maybe the A-Frame amplifies the sound.

Hope all are well and safe.

P.S. to the other guests, did the CM's come by and hand out flashlights? They did here

Yes, the CM's handed out flashlights at All-Star Movies.

As far as hearing stuff, we can't hardly hear anything from here in the room, but when you step outside, they have some type of machinery running that sounds almost like our tornado sirens sound at home.

They had the main pool still open till at least 9:30 pm, but the Hockey Pool was roped off and all the chairs stacked and tied down when we got back to the room at 7:30 pm.

clkelley,
I was at Ohana's at 5:20!

emma'sdad,
No flashlights handed out at ny room in POFQ.

I can't hear any wind at all. Then again, I'm watching a movie (I'm tired of the news) and my DH is snoring so loud he's probably drowning the noise outside! ;) Actually, I just looked outside and it's not raining here and there's not that much wind yet.

We stayed at CBR during hurricane Frances and they closed the parks for 2 days, Saturday and Sunday, re-opened Epcot and MK on Labor Day. Tuesday all the parks were open but some rides weren't operating, ToT for one as there was to much water on the roof and the Imagineers said no to letting the ride operate at that time, for the safety of the guests.

It sucked having to stay in our room for two days, some of us save up for a long time to splurge on a vacation at WDW, the tourism I believe is a huge deal for Florida. As for now they are trying to figure out how to make up the loss and bring tourists back to make up for some of the loss of money they normally bring in.

With that said, it was an incredible experience to have been at CBR and WDW during the storm. The CM's went out of their way to make all of us feel safe and secure, even though you could see how worried some of them were for their homes and families. I remember one CM at the register at "Grab 'n Go", Old Port Royale, she so scared and I tried to comfort her.

Now looking back, we DID have a great time at WDW, we were part of history as WDW had never closed two days in a row, we were fine, we had CM's as neighbours in our building (Trinidad North) that we spoke to, it brought other guests out on the landings and in the laundry room to chat and spend time waiting together. It was a scary experience as we are "only" used to tornados here in MO/KS, but I must say, WDW has a completley wonderful staff to prepare for storms, take care of guests and the clean-up after the storm is immidiate.

We have a friend of the family who is a CM at City Hall in MK and who lives in Orlando, we were concerned about his safety and home as with all of you other Floridians!

I have been watching the weatherchannel now for over 2 hours trying to follow what is happening with Jeanne.

My heart goes out to all of you down there, be safe and for the guests at WDW, take it for what it is, we did! We experienced our first hurricane at WDW, the best place to be!!

Awwwww. What a terrific post!!! I am so glad that you looked at the experience the way you did. I couldn't think of a better place to be if I had to be in a hurricane.:p

We were at Pop Century for Charley and I have to say that the CM's and Disney were great, passing out flyers leaving phone messages, really kept us informed. Their tv channels ran disney movies, and altho the food court was closed, they handed out all kinds of chips and we hit the snack machines. I mean, how often is it that you have an excuse to have chips and snickers for dinner?:teeth: We were glued to the tv watching all the weather reports and my DD and I are facinated (sp?) with storms.

Be safe everyone and my prayers go to all those brave Floridians who are braving yet another hurricane.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL STUCK IN WDW Hoping everyone is weathering the storm without too much inconvenience.

I also don't think the OP was trying to be insensitive to those who live in FL.

After my WDW trip, we drove down to Fort Lauderdale for what was supposed to be 4 days of unwinding on the beach. We had to evacuate yesterday morning. The hotel we stayed at was not helpful at ALL. I went ahead on Friday and changed my flights from Sunday to Saturday and we were lucky to get out.

The hotel said that they would inform us on what was going on but the only thing they had was a very confusing letter in the lobby.

When we left for our trip, the latest word was that Jeanne was nothing to worry about so we continued on with our plans. So when we got in teh car on Thursday and headed down to Fort Lauderdale it was a shock to hear all these news reports about Jeanne.

Since we had a mandatory evacuation, we are supposed to get reimbursed for the night of the hotel we didn't get to use. I figure that will all take a while to sort out. But did see they charged me $300 (maybe a hold?). Hmmmm...

I keep seeing people telling distraught travelers that Disney is losing money so why should anyone expect compensation for missed days and it isn't Disney's fault. Well, it's not the travelers fault that the park is closed either and YES those that paid for UPH's should get compensated for the missed days due to park closures.

It is upsetting when your dream vacation is ruined by a storm. People are just coming here to vent about it. I don't think any of them are being insensitive to anyone. After all, they are going through the experience too.

why some of you insist on acting like knuckleheads and attacking people like you did the OP who was in a stressfull situation while you were contemplating your next cup of coffee. takeing half sentences out of context and implying things never implied. i think you should be ashamed of yourself.
