My 2 siblings and I are going to WDW in about a month. I am flying into MCO and am contemplating the best transportation to use to get to my hotel. I know that Magical Express is no longer available. I have researched Sunshine Flyer and Mears Connect, but I am not sure which is better. I am also considering taking a Lyft because it seems faster, but I don't have much experience with using rideshare. Does anyone know if the Lyft drivers near Disney are safe/nice? I want to start our trip on a good note. Any advice is welcome.

The answer a lot is "it depends". The time you arrive plays a big part. If it is after 10pm (I believe), then Sunshine Flyer isn't running.

If you need more than 3 people's worth of space, a carseat, or more than 3 pieces of luggage, then availability of Lyft/Uber is significantly reduced. You need an Uber XL or one of the special ones. Using Mears or Sunshine Flyer makes more sense.

Note: Sunshine Flyer and Mears only go to the hotels on Disney World property.

If you use Uber or Lyft, you should be safe, especially with 3 people. There are security precautions built into the apps (a type of panic button) and you are sent the name of the driver, make of the car, and plate number before pickup. Make sure you are getting into the correct car. I use Uber and Lyft on a semi regular basis and find the cars are so much cleaner than taxis and the drivers have always been friendly. I always keep my phone out and ready to use when I am in a rideshare, especially if alone. But again, I've had much better experiences with rideshare drivers than taxi cab drivers.

I use Lyft and Uber frequently when in Orlando and traveling around Disney and Universal. (I check both apps and use the less expensive one) I have not felt unsafe traveling by myself, even after Disney parties that end at midnight. I have had some drivers who speak limited English, which was OK with me as I prefer not to chat, they always got me to my destination.

We're not familiar with Uber or Lyft. My understanding is the charge is around $60 from MCO to WDW, which is a big savings over a normal $90 taxi ride.

We use Mears Connect. It runs very similarly to the ME. Sometimes we're in a bus and sometimes a van. The buses usually make 4 to 5 stops and the vans tend to either be direct or a 2 stop. MC is $76 round trip. The pickup text provides driving tracking, which can be handy when the resort is busy on checkout day.

Mears services hotels near Disney including Gaylord Palms, 4 Seasons, hotels in Bonnet Creek and others

Edited to add I'm talking about Mears Connect, shared shuttle service.

I was using Destination MCO…… however, Lyft Lux has the same car for half the price….. maybe 60 or 80 dollars for an suc

Uber was a fail….

This is not always the case, in many cases taxi cabs are actually cheaper (and easier to get since they are lined up curbside) especially during peak periods when Uber/Lyft are surcharging or driver supply is short..

For my November trip the limo was late.
The Uber driver kept getting lost.

Lyft showed up in minutes, brand new Yukon.
80 dollars from the Riviera to the airport.

Limo would have been 125

My wife left on an earlier flight…. She did regular Lyft it was 45 dollars….

We just came back from a Christmas trip with 2 kids (1 booster seat) and 2 adults. We used Uber and have in the past. We have never had an issue, except for the occasional music situation with bad words. ha

We fit in a regular Uber, but I also sat in the middle of the back seat and made sure my kids had the "real" seats. My husband has always sat up front. It was about $40-50 each way depending on time of day and season.

We have never felt unsafe and our drivers always had clean cars. You can see their ratings before they pick you up.

The only time I used Lyft was for an actual Minnie Van and that was just a treat for the kids.

Good to know - thanks!

Staying at all star movies and am used to using magical express. Is mears connect the same service? What is the difference between standard and express? I’m used to magical express stopping at all of the all stars and I’m ok with that, however I don’t want to stop all many other resorts. Our flight lands in the early morning so I’m sure the bus will be crowded. Also without putting all my info in how do I find the prices
