So i'm helping DD plan her trip for summer 2012 - a month long dream trip:
-- one week in Alaska (fairbanks, denali national park, anchorage, seward)
-- one week southbound cruise (seward alaska to vancouver)
-- 2 days in vancouver, canada
-- 15 days with mickey at WDW

so....given that her APs will run out a few days before they leave orlando, she was thinking of spending the last few days shopping until she drops, something we've never done before in orlando (we've always left all our shopping to our detroit stop - but she won't be visiting the family this trip).

she'll be staying somewhere onsite at WDW (i'm waiting for free dining or at least AP discounts before i book something for her).
so the question is, how does she get from WDW to the various outlet malls?
I know the one that's near WDW is possible by taxi, but the bigger malls that are further away probably cost a fortune by taxi.
are there any buses that go from WDW to the malls?

i have to calculate the cost of renting a car for those few days....it might work out cheaper...

In 2010 we used the buses to The Florida Mall for the first time, it was so easy & cheap. I'd seen a post on it with advise from Kath (she will be the best to help). We were at SSR so got the bus at DD. We walked to DD, had breakfast at WPE, then walked on the path behind there up to the main road & waited for the bus, think it was no. 42. We also got no. 50 to Seaworld. You can get bus to SW then cross over the road to get bus to Premium outlets. We had day tickets. You can get the bus at Transportation station as well. Anyone please correct me if it's changed or i'm mistaken.

Lynx bus.
Florida Mall - 111 from Downtown Disney to Florida Mall.
Premium Outlets (Vineland) - 50 to Sea World, transfer to 8 to Premium Outlets OR 50 from the TTC to Sea World then cab fare about $5 (there are always cabs at Sea World).
Premium Outlets (I-Drive) - 111 to Destination Parkway, transfer 42 to Premium Outlets (I-Drive) OR 50 from TTC to Sea World then transfer 8 to Outlets (or cab from Sea World - ~$15).

$2 each way; transfers free, just ask when you get on. Day passes for $4.50, buy on the bus. Exact change only.
Have fun!

thank you both!!!

sounds like an adventure just getting to the malls.

maybe they could take the bus there and then if they have lots of packages, take a cab back. :)

we took the bus from disney to florida mall - its a long bus journey! im sure it was about 40mins

It's incredibly easy but yes, it does take longer than a cab or driving - that is the nature of any bus. It's $2, so you choose whether you want to save the money or time. For us, an extra 10 minutes here or there doesn't matter - we're on holiday; plus it saves hundreds on car rental...

I suppose it is quite a long journey but we did'nt really notice, we took the bus to & from FM & SW, twice. We enjoyed it and are looking forward to doing it again next year.

We always bus it to the Florida Mall, both outlets and Seaworld and its very easy, cheap and really not that slow in the scheme of things so long as you've checked the time table before hand and can just jump on it. Now that the bus picks up outside DTD and goes straight to the Florida Mall it's bliss as it was a long trek before. We have always found the drivers very helpful so just ask them if you are unsure of the connections. Part of your holiday is experiencing different things and being able to just take in your surroundings from the bus allows you to see other things that you might fancy doing. :)

i'm sure she'll think of it as an adventure - she's taken buses in every crazy little corner of the world under really terrible conditions, so this will be luxury in comparison.
and not only is it less costly than a car, i don't think she really wants to drive in orlando.

This has been a lot of help to me too :) thanks for posting. I want some new UGGS when I'm out there next September for the winter when I get home so will be visiting the malls to hopefully get a bargain!! (fingers crossed!!)
