From the Contemporary, which would be our best form of transportation over to Fort Wilderness for Hoop-Dee-Doo...drive our rental car, or take the boat from Contemporary? Also, we will be doing DTD after dinner. Better to drive there or use buses? Our PS for HDD is at 5:00...will we have enough time for DTD afterwards? :confused3 Thanks you guys! Our trip will be SO much better because of you! :goodvibes

ONE WEEK and we're there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would take the boat. It is the easiest, fastest, most direct way to HDDR.

I've driven once and wouldn't do it again. If I remember correctly, I had to park pretty far away from Pioneer Hall and you either have to take a bus to Pioneer Hall from the parking lot or it is a VERY long walk.

Is there a boat from Contemporary to Fort Wilderness??? If so, I would definitely to that. We drove for HDDR this past December, and after parking, had to take a bus with numerous stops to get to actual site - it was kind of a pain in the neck. I would, however, drive to DTD. Good luck!!

I believe there is a constant boat that cycles between the contemporary/WL/FW....this would be the easiest to me...boat drops you by the restaurant

I'd do the boat, too. I stayed at WL last week, and there was a boat that went to Ft Wilderness than to Contemporary, so even if Contemporary doesn't have a direct boat, you can ride to WL and jump the other boat to Ft Wilderness. It's a quick, easy, and relaxing way to get there.

After that, if the boats aren't running anymore, you'll grab the bus from Ft Wilderness to head to DTD. They should have one running from there, if you dn't see it immediately ask teh CM's standing out there to direct people. We saw the 930 show, so the boat wasn't running after that, and there was a slew of CMs standing out by the buses making sure we knew how to get back home. If the boats ARE still running, I'd hop it to the first resort you land at and take the bus to DTD from there.

I'm a fan of driving to the HDDR. The boats can be late, stop running because of bad weather. I agree the boats if their running perfectly would be the way to go, but I think driving your rental would be more reliable.

You park out front at Fort Wilderness and take a quick 5-7 minute ride back to pioneer hall, then reverse the trip on the way out. I have experienced a 60 minute wait for a boat back to MK after the 5:00pm HDDR show and was told this was normal wait time.

Plus after you get done with the HDDR and can get your car and head directly to DTD!

The only problem with this scenario is that you don't need to go to the MK. The CR, Ft Wilderness, and WL have their own boat; it runs from 7 am to 10 pm every day.

Your best bet is take the boat to Ft Wilderness. When the show's over, take the direct Ft Wilderness bus to DTD. At the end of the night catch the direct CR bus.

If you plan on doing DD afterwards, I would absolutely drive. The boat ride is really nice, but will be much more time consuming. The 5:00 show starts about 5:15, and then last an hour and a half, so you'll be able to be at DD by about 7:15 or so if you drive. If you do the boat, expect to add another 45 minutes to an hour.

You may not want to rush out of Ft. Wilderness, it is a really fun and interesting place to explore.

I knew this. I guess my point is the boats don't always run efficiently (if I remember they run every 20-30 minutes, plus if you have to wait until the thrid boat or so because of the heavy crowds out of HDDR like I did in November 2003 it can be pretty frustrating). I agree the boat ride is nice if you have the time, but if you really want to get somewhere, I think the rental car route would be better then hoping you catch the boat at the right time.
