Hey all, We are contemplating a June '08 trip back to the World, and are considering the Swan or Dolphin, due to the teacher discount. What we'd like to know is, what kind of transportation is available from the airport to the hotel? I know this isn't a WDW resort, but they do have internal buses/boats/walkways to the parks, so do they do Magical Express or do we have to arrange our own transportation from the airport and back again? And if we do have to secure our own ride, what options are available to us? We've tried asking this question of our travel agent, but she is very anti-Swan/Dolphin and was unwilling to give us any info.TIA. Missy AKA Ladyvader:)

As far as I know they do not have a Magical Express. When we stayed in January we used Mears to get to the Dolphin. We used a private car instead of van that picks up multiple passangers. We had so much luggage we needed a big trunk!

First of all, I'd look into a different travel agent, or book on your own. TA's shouldn't be letting their biases affect their service to you.

I don't know if ME is offered to S/D, but I'll tackle some of the internal transportation stuff:

- There is a canal that goes between MGM and EPCOT, and boats ride along it, and they make stops at the S/D dock, along with stops at Beach Club and at Boardwalk.

- Along that canal there is also a walkway. This walkway is usually a little faster to get to EPCOT or MGM than waiting on the boats.

- WDW bus transportation is available to take you anywhere else within WDW, such as Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom, waterparks or Downtown Disney.

We just got back Saturday from the Swan/Dolphin. Disney's Magical Express is NOT offered to and from the airport.

We ended up getting a room at Pop Century for our first and last night because our girls really like the flower pool and we could use the DME to get to and from the airport.

Getting our luggage from Pop Century to the Swan and back again was VERY easy. Then we got to check our luggage right at Pop Century and get our boarding passes too. Once on the DME bus to the airport, we just had to go through security to our gate.

Very simple and worth switching resorts in my opinion.

No Magical Express to and from the airport from the Swan and Dolphin.
They use the same Disney bus and boat transportation as the other Disney resorts.

We arrange our own transportation. I call Berkley Edwards Transportation. He has a big white van , used to work for Tiffany and is very prompt and efficient. Never a problem. I always also ask for a soda stop at the Hess Mini Mart which is right next to the Swan/Dolphin. We cant be bothered with the mugs. On the way back twice he picked Dh and I up at the Swan and then drove over to the fantasia mini golf where the teens were playing golf to pick them up for our ride back to the airport. Just love this guy. You will love the swan and dolpin. Much cheaper than a disney deluxe and better customer service for sure. Make sure you sign up for their starwoods program.

Thanks everyone for all the help and advice. We are still pretty sure we're going to stay at the Swan next June. We just need to arrange for our transportation there and back. The idea about staying at a value the first and last days is something we might be trying. We've done that before when we've driven to disney, just so we won't spend that much money on a room for a partial day, and it worked out well. Thanks again!

Oooh, I like the idea of staying at a value before and after staying at the S/D! Never thought of that! Will the resorts transfer your luggage?
