Why does our credit card get hacked every time we go to WDW?

A few years ago I have a debit card 'compromised' (bank's term not mine) on two separate occasions and a relative in another part of the country had a similar situation a few months later. Bank was always vague about what the issue was, but got the impression that debit transactions are somehow less secure than using a credit card. I now only use my debit card at an ATM to get cash and haven't had any recent 'issues'. I stopped using my debit card for any other types of purchases.
WAY less secure, because they are not insured for fraud. If someone runs up charges on your credit card and you report it, the credit card issuer will take the hit and try to reclaim the money themselves while leaving you whole, but if thieves get hold of your debit info and clean out your bank accounts, you're pretty much SOL at most banks.

I *never* use my debit card when traveling except to change money overseas (always at bank ATMs), nor at a gas pump anywhere. Even though it has a VISA logo, the terms for indemnity are not the same as on actual credit cards.

When we are at WDW we lodge a credit card when we check into the BWV and use the magic bands to pay for everything.

By 'less secure' I was referring to the electronic mechanism merchants/banks use to process these types of purchases. How you get reimbursed for a transaction you didn't authorize is a different subject and not was I talking about.

Debit cards I am familiar with also have a daily limit on how much can be charged/withdrawn by the user.
