My DH and I are traveling from AK to PC for a Disney Cruise. We have heard mixed reviews regarding transportation. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether or not we should take the DCL transportation, taxi, towncar, etc? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, in advance for your help.

We will also need transportation to return from the port to the airport.

I have read that the cheapest form of transportation is renting a car and driving yourself. We will be doing this for our upcoming trip. We will have a car rental for the first half of our trip at WDW anyhow, and even though we picked it up at the airport we will return it to the port. We will be renting from Budget and they have a location just a few miles from the Port. They also provide shuttle transportation to the port. For the trip home to the airport, we will basically do the same thing. Rent a car, drive to the airport and turn it back in. The rental car home is costing somewhere around $40. Since there are 4 of us, this is much cheaper than using disney transportation.

That is what we did twice. We used a rental car. It was very convient, and liked it. For the 3 day, we just kept the car, did pay for parking, but did the week rate which was not much more than the 4 days would of been. I think parking was $10.00 / day. It was the ultimate in decadance. Your ride there already, and you just walked over to the car with the valet with our luggage. Very worth it. I think we got back to disney a hour after landing at port. :teeth:

We are also going from AKL to PC. We decided on taking Disney Transfers ($30 ea.) one way from AKL to Ship. The only advantage to this is in the ship will wait for the DCL..they will not wait for you in private transport ie accident flat tire..engine trouble..etc..
The disadvantage is that you arrive a little later at the terminal so your lunch would be delayed. The bus leaves AKL at 12:30 pm..
The price for DCL is comperable to private unless you have avery large group.
For us, the guarantee of making the ship was an incentive.
