I'm trying to figure out the best way to get to the parks from the Polynesian using Disney transportation. Can any Polynesian veterans offer advice? :confused3

Magic Kingdom: How long does it take? Where does the monorail stop first? Will be have trouble getting on during peak morning hours?

Epcot: How long does it take? Where does the monorail stop first? Will be have trouble getting on during peak morning hours?

MGM: What's the quickest and most direct route?

Animal Kingdom: MGM: What's the quickest and most direct route?

Thanks so much for your help!

Depending on your long house you may be closer to the boat or ferry or TTC -- but here goes:

MK -- boat directly to MK, stops at GF on the return trip
Ferry from TTC direct to MK
Monorail from TTC express route
Monorail from Poly -- one stop at GF, then stops at MK

To Epcot we always walk to the TTC and take the monorail direct to Epcot otherwise you have to take the monorail from the Poly stopping at GF, MK and Contemporary and then getting onto the Epcot line.

Bus to AK and MGM.

When going to the Magic Kingdom the Monorail will stop at the Grand Floridian and then it arrives at the Magic Kingdom. There is also a boat which goes right to the Magic Kingdom, however the Monorail might come around a lot faster then the next boat would.

When going to Epcot walk to the TTC and from there go right to the Epcot Monorail.

When going to Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom, the Polynesian has a direct bus. However after leaving the bus will then stop at the Grand Floridian to pick guests up from there. You can also walk to the TTC and get a bus from there to either park and it won't stop anywhere else.

Thanks for posting this question and thanks to the people who posted answers! I was wondering the exact same thing, as we will also be staying at the Polynesian on our trip!

I just wanted to tell the new folks, don't sweat the transportation from Poly at all! I have been on more than 40 WDW trips in my lifetime and staying at the Poly was the most transportation friendly- we were just there last fall.

I definitely agree with walking to the Ticket and Transportation center and then taking the EPCOT monorail directly. If you're a newbie you may not realize that to get to the Epcot monorail you have to do the whole loop first if you take the Resort monorail (next stop is the Grand Floridian, then the MK, then the CR then the TTC then back to Poly) it's so much easier to take the short walk than it is to not only waste time riding the train to the TTC but walking down and then back up all the ramps.

We were traveling with 2 disabled people in our party (myself using a chair for the parks, and my elderly dad who only deigns to use an ECV at epcot *rolling eyes* and only when forced!) we're both stroke survivors so getting around easily was the deciding factor in our choosing Poly for our family trip.

It was great.

Worst time we had getting anywhere was the bus to DTD- took forever because it stops at the water parks but you can't avoid that no matter what resort you're at, I don't think.

The ride back took more than an hour! So if you have dinner reservations back at any resort and are taking the bus back from DTD plan accordingly with lots of time to spare!

Remember too as new folks to always ask how late the monorails or busses are running after park closing that day!

Good luck and have fun at the Poly! You'll love it.

Yeah the TTC is a great alternative and works better for some destinations than resident Poly transportation. It generally doesn't involve additional stops either.

Magic Kingdom: How long does it take? Where does the monorail stop first? Will be have trouble getting on during peak morning hours?

From what I can remember last, it took about 10 minutes to take the monorail from the Poly to the MK as it has to stop at the GF first. As an alternative, you can also take the boat launch straight to the MK. During peak morning hours the wait wasn't very long. Usually if the monorail leaves packed, a second one is coming along in about 2 - 5 minutes. Sometimes the wait is closer to 5 minutes if the monorail is on a 'hold' for traffic clearance.

As others have stated, to get to EPCOT, definitely walk to the TTC and get the monorail. In addition, you can also get the bus to AK and MGM from the TTC and it doesn't stop at the GF as it would if you took the bus from the Poly.

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

When it comes to the Downtown Disney buses from the Magic Kingdom Monorail Resorts you can not go to the TTC and get a bus from there like you would for Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom. So you either have to wait for the bus at the Resort you are staying at, drive yourself if you have a car, or take a Taxi.

Magic Kingdom: How long does it take? Where does the monorail stop first? Will be have trouble getting on during peak morning hours?

Taking the monorail from the Great Ceremonial House, the first stop is the Grand Floridian, with continuing service to the Magic Kingdom, then the Contemporary, Ticket & Transportation Center, and back to the Polynesian. You can also take the boat at the Ticket & Transportation Center, which is direct to the Magic Kingdom. The lines for the monorail can be long during the morning hours, and it will be standing room only sometimes. This is also the case with the boat.

Epcot: How long does it take? Where does the monorail stop first? Will be have trouble getting on during peak morning hours?

There are two ways to get to Epcot from the Polynesian; you can take the direct monorail from the TTC (easiest) or go on the monorail from the GCH, making a loop around the lagoon (Poly, GF, MK, CR, TTC) then get off at the TTC and switch monorails. Obviously the former one is much easier and faster. As with the MK monorail, lines might be long in the morning and it will be standing room only sometimes.

MGM: What's the quickest and most direct route?

Take the bus from the bus stop just outside the GCH at the Polynesian. I think there is also one at the TTC, but I'm not 100% sure so don't take my word for it.

Animal Kingdom: What's the quickest and most direct route?

Again, take the bus from the Polynesian's bus stop or TTC.

Happy Planning,
Simon :)

Yes their is a bus for Hollywood Studios at the TTC. Last month when my family and I were leaving that park the direct bus to the Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian was not there. However the bus to the TTC was, so we went on that and when we arrived at the TTC we used the walkway back to the Polynesian.

I'm with Ms.Stinkerbelle, we love the boat from the Poly to the MK!!!

I don't understand what you mean? I think I must have not spoken clearly :)

All I meant was that if you're going from DTD to any of the MK resorts via bus (we were staying at the Poly) that it can take you a long time to get back because of all the stops. Sorry if I confused anybody. That was all I meant there.

Oh I agree with you about that. All I said was when it comes to getting to DTD the only way by WDW buses is from the Resorts, because you can not get a bus at the TTC like you can for Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom.

I gotcha now! :) It's late, the coffee's long worn off. . . LOL
